Question about Transport Schwinn Rechargeable Portable Scooter

Schwinn s-400 scooter no motor activity.

I purchased a new Schwinn S-400 electric scooter for my kids 2 days ago. We read the instructions and plugged in the charger. The light stayed solid green instead of flashing red like the instructions state. I am an electrician by trade, so I grabbed my Fluke multi-meter and ran a few tests.
1: I am seeing 27vdc at the charger.
2: The batteries read 0.00vdc at first, 24 hrs. later they read 12vdc
3: 40 amp fuse is good
The trouble is the motor should turn with 12vdc at the batts., but I get no reaction to the throttle and there is no indicating lights on at the throttle handle. The lights activate only when charger is connected and on/off switch is "on". When I unplug the charger and switch to "on", the lights, motor get no reaction.
Please help. I do have a 90 day factory and a 1 year Pep Boys warrenty, however I would like to hear from the "real world" first.

Have issue. No lights on throttle, read 24 volts on battery, 27 v on charger. No motor activity. I beeped out all wires, brake wire is working also. I'm thinking it's the controller? I found on for 37 dollars, I do not want to buy it unless I know that is the problem. Anyone else have this issue? Thanks

I just bought my daughter one today, brought it home, hooked it up and got absolutely nothing... I'll probably take it back to the store in the morning.

My Schwinn S-180 scooter won't charge

Check your charger with a meter and see if it is putting out the correct voltage for your scooter battery. If it is, you probably need a battery, probably so anyway after 2 years. Good luck!

Schwinn S400 no power

The batteries are dead. The battery in these scooter need to be kept charged or if not in use for a long time charged every 3months. Otherwise, like what to you, they will go dead. Its likely that you just need a new battery. Batteries that are used seasonally have a shorter lifespand, especially if they are stored without being fully charged. You can find a replacement at

Schwinn S180 won't charge

NashvilleDan, this scooter has 2 12v 10 amp batteries in series, you should read over 24 volts at the charging hub if the batteries are good. I would think that if the scooter sat for over a year you have bad batteries, They can be purchased at battery plus.

Not sure if this will help... however an altmeter will allow you to test along your electrics for any faults. You can check at the lights for example and throught the system.
