You cant tell of the injectors are working fine by just looking. They are designed to flow a specific amount of fuel per minute/hour and at a certain pressure. The only way to confirm is to have then flow tested. You could also have a rash of other issues that also affect performance. Fuel pump, fuel filter, ignition, timing, spark plugs, wires and even ECU. It could be as little as having bad gas, or water in the tank. Try and eliminate some of the simple things before swapping out injectors like fuel pump, water in the tank, bad gas, plugs, wires and even timing. A tune up is probably the least expensive option to make sure all the factory settings are good to go.

Have you replaced the fuel filter? Suggest you check the running fuel pressure and also check the fuel pressure regulator function.

My 98 Toyota Camry V6 LE has 120,000 miles on it and runs great. However, lately I have noticed it sputters ever so slightly on the highway. right about 60 MPH. If coasting or accelerating it is fine. ...

Being that you have a 1998 Toyota Camry, these cars are fuel injected and shouldnt need the gas pedal depressed to feed fuel to your engine. It's possible you may have a dirty fuel pump or dirty injectors. Here are some possible steps (cheapest in $) so follow these in order to spend less money.
- Run some Lucas Fuel System Cleaner (green cap bottle), do two treatments of that in your gas tank and see if that makes a difference. Dirty lines and clogged injectors are caused by cheap gas and or constantly running on Empty thus allowing fuel pump to pick up sediment from bottom of gas tank.
- Sputtering could also be worn spark plugs (too big of a gap) and or faulty spark plug wires or both.
-Timing chain issues usually occur if you hear a constant vibration near the top of the engine.
-Transmission issues would be having trouble putting the car in certain gears, or the transmission stick does not sit in gear properly (slippage).

Just some suggestions that may help with your problem.

The problem im having is the cars engine dies like it is running out of fuel but there is lots of fuel and i can hear the fuel pump when i turn the key on. sometimes it will start and run for a few minutes...

Replacing the fuel filter is the first thing to do. It also wouldn't hurt to run a good amount of fuel system cleaner through the gas tank. Please rate this answer, thanks.

Engine cuts out like it cant get gas when accelerating, sometimes when at driving speed the car cant get gas , then after a min it runs fine , also trouble starting like it cant get gas...i dont smell...

Depending on year. I would check cheap things first. First check lines for leaks. Replace Fuel Filter with new one. If fuel injected? have fuel injectors checked. If Carberator? Check for Vacuum leaks around the throttle body, Check Intake, and carb itself for leaks. Now i would go ahead and check the Fuel pump. If Injectors? Have the fuel pressure checked. If Carb? Try a new Pump.
You didn't specify what year and model or what engine. So It's kinda hrd to figure it out. but i gave you the basics for all engines.

You might want to replace the fuel filter and check your fuel pump. If the fuel filter gets dirty it will slow or stop the fuel from going to the injectors/carb....it can also cause the injectors/carb to become fouled or blocked. Be aware that buying gasoline from a service station when they are receiving a fuel delivery is a good way of getting a lot of unwanted sediment from their tanks into yours.

1999 Ford Mustang V6

I would recommend replacing your fuel filter, I also drive a V6 and after replacing my filter it really improved my milage and my car ran alot smoother. I would also recommend buying a octane fuel cleaner, that will clean out your fuel injectors if those are clogged up. If it comes down to down you may need to replace the fuel injectors, but it doesn't sound like the problem is too severe if the engine is still running which is good. I recommend not to drive until the fuel filter is replace as well as putting octane injector clearner in the gas tank. You can find the octane cleaner at Checkers for cheap.
