HI GUYS,
I HAVE A 2002 DAEWOO LANOS. LAST NIGHT ON MY WAY HOME, IT LOST POWER, I GEARED DOWN AND IT PICKED UP SPEED AGAIN JUST TO LOOSE POWER AGAIN, I PULLED OF AND IT DIED ON ME. FUEL FILTER IS CLEAN AND I CAN HEAR THE FUEL PUMP RUNNING, IT WON`T START AND WHEN IT STANDS FOR A WHILE, IT BACKFIRES WHEN YOU TRY TO START IT. THERE IS SPARK AND THE ENGINE TURNS, BUT IT WONT START? ANY SUGGESTIONS.
Hi andrecti

check to see if your timing belt is broken. there should be an access hole usually a rubber cap that you can remove to see it. if there is no access hole remove the screws of the timing belt cover and open it enough to see the belt without breaking the cover. If the belt looks ok be sure there is enough tension so that it is not skipping over the camshaft pulley.
check your ignition components for dampness or to see if they are faulty (spark plugs, wires and ignition module and coil packs).

Daewoo Lanos runs fine on idle but has no power for take off and will only go about 10 miles an hour. I changed fuel filter no help. It makes a loud sucking sound if you give it the gas like it would at high speed when the overdrive would kick in
