Timing belts should be changed every 60,000. Different car makes state different mileage but as a whole 60,000 miles and you should replace the timing belt.
The belt keeps the crankshaft and
camshaft in time with one another. And is very important. If you dont change them when they need changing. It can cause extreme engine damage so yes it can effect the internal engine damage.
based on the mileage it is about time to change the timing belt. this should be done by a professional or someone with internal engine expertise. it is nothing like changing a fan belt.
