Look at the starter relay, the positive battery cable goes from the battery to the relay to the starter. These do go bad. Also check the battery cable to see if tight( both positive and negative). and check to make sure the cables are good, and not broken. hope this helps

93 ranger will not start unless push start..put new selenoid battery is hot all lights .. horn..all works ..do I need a new starter?

To determine if you need a starter you would first do some electrical tests at the starter relay an do voltage drop testing of the starter circuit ! Without doing these test I could not say one way or another ! What solenoid did you replace ? Does yours have one on the inside of the right fender or on the starter ? Starter Voltage Drop

Ford ranger electrical

Check the starting circuit fuses. Most likely its a bad starter. If you can easily get at it. Drop it out attach a ground line between the body of the starter and any clean metal under the car. Have someone look at the starter while you try starting. If it does noithing when you turn the key to start, its time for a new one.

Changed my battery and the cable ends and now my 94 ford ranger will not start. It makes a click noise and nothing else. I tried tapping on the starter and it still will not start.

SO, would it crank before you changed the cables and battery? When you arc the solenoid does the starter actually crank?

Power on but my 2000 ford ranger will not start

Replace battery terminals and/or clean battery posts. Horn and radio don't use as much juice as starting. Sounds like a lack of amperage or electrical pressure to push the starter motor. Also check battery. Needs 12 or more volts and about 600 or more cranking amps.

It wont start, just makes a clicking noise. put new battery cables on, new starter, new cylinoid. tried to jump start it, wont jump start either

Clicking noise usually means a bad connection at the battery terminal. It can also be a bad connection at the starter or solenoid.
Re-clean and tighten battery cables, and if that doesn't do it,re-tighten starter connections.Don't overtighten as copper-bronze studs can break easily. If your Ranger is standard shift (4 or 5-speed), don't get under the car or in front of it without the battery cables disconnectede or the shifter in neutral,as any current you inadvertently send thru the starter can engage it and run you over or knock the vehicle off jackstands or blocks. don-ohio

The car wont turn over. when i place the key in the ignition to start the car it does nothing the dashboard dont light up, the car has a new starter, new battery, new spark plugs w/ cables

Is the battery fully charged and are the connections clean and tight. Your ignition fuse seems to be blown. Check the big fuses under the hood. Will the headlights come on? will the horn blow? Good Luck!!!

I have power but my 1990 ford ranger clicks loudly and wont turn

Starter could be stuck..
If you are SURE you battery is fully charged with no dead cells..
Try --
(takes 2 peopl) -
Turn the key like you are trying to start it.
At the SAME time - smack the starter with a small hammer not too too hard..
Let me know what happens..
