I put a new transmission in my 1994 Chevy 1500 Suburban and all the gears work but it won't shift into overdrive. What would cause this?

My 2002 Chevy Silverado had the same problem and the overdrive part of the transmission was out so I had to get a new transmission.

i have a 90 chevy 2500 2wd 350ci.when i go to start my truck the key turns hard in the ignition,the check engine light and brake light come on the heater dont work,and the transmission will shift from 1-2 at real high rpm and shift hard,no 3-od.this comes and goes,but all happens at the same time.some times it last for 10 min,sometimes its days.what is going on?

No it will not work in that truck. You may have a bad shift solenoid, or those gears are bad.

code 28 is transmission range pressure switch, check the fluid level and get back to me, hope this helps. Please rate my fix as i strive to be the best Thanks Ray

I'm not sure if your saying all four gears including reverse but that transmission only has four forward gears. Fourth gear is overdrive

Not without a little adapting. The 1993 has a 4l60e which is electronically controlled and has shift solenoids. If the 83 is an overdrive it is a 700r4 which is the same trans but not electronic. If you put it in the speedo wont work and you will need to install a T.V. cable so the transmission will shift. The 93 won't go forward or backwards?

If your transmission has a vaccuum module on the side, check that. it will cause similar problem.

Could be a shift selonoid,I would recomend taking it to a shop and have a scanner hooked up to it.
