A speedo can be repaired but, it is cheaper to find a replacement from a used bike and fit this, keep the old one for if you sell the bike, (just to prove the mileage to the next buyer)

I ride about 10 miles then my electronics start to cut out

Check the cam pickup on the nose cone on the right side of your engine. With time, they go bad because of all the heat cycles they go thru. Works fine when the bike is cool, but when it heats up, the bike cuts out and runs bad and the speedo will jump around. If this is the problem, after you replace it, the bike will need to be timed.

I have a 2000 3,000 rpm my speedometer reads 40 mph.any ideas whats wrong,or what can i do?

Hello Galen... The digital speedo on your Harley goes thru a very short start up sequence. If you crank the bike before this sequence is complete, it will often make the speedo register incorrectly. Next time you turn on the ignition, watch the speedo needle, it will make a little ****, once this is done crank the bike. If it reads wrong going down the road, pull over, turn off ignition and crank it again while waiting for the needle.

You can also remove & clean the speedo sensor of debris (on top of the transmission). Sometimes the sensor will pick up small metal particles & cause the speedo to be off.

I hope this helps & good luck with your bike.

The speedo sensor isn't reading the true speed .it reads a lot faster than what bike is going. only had the bike a few days. no idea what to do

The speedo needs callibrating as you have either different sized tyres/wheels or the speedo has been changed.
Take it to a dealer for callibration.

Hey i was riding my bike one day and the speedo just stopped can i fix this without buying a new one or do i have to buy one cheers :)

hi , Depending how old is the bike it maybe only your speedo cable gone . There is no need of replacing the speedo even if its a new bike as the connection maybe damp or fuses might be blown or false connection

I want to install a front speedo drive on my 1970 flh harley and im not sure what drive the speedo drive when its on the axle

Your speedometer is driven by the transmission on your '70 model FLH. But, if you want to put a front wheel speedo drive on the bike, first take a look at a bike that has a front wheel speedo drive. You'll notice that the hub right where the axle goes through has a "notch" in it and the speedo drive has a "tab" that goes into the notch. As the wheel turns, the hub turns the speedo drive. This is how it works.

Now, you have two problems, One is that you need a speedo drive that has the spacer built into it so that you can eliminate a spacer on one side of the hub. Next, is the ratio of the speedo drive. The ratio of the speedo drive must match the speedo or the indicated speed will be incorrect. The speedo ratio for your FLH is probably 1:1 since it's a transmission driven speedo.

Good luck

You can't with out braking a couple little parts inside the speedo. You can give it a try I have heard of it being done without any damage. Here in my state it's against the law to do this.

What does do1clr mean on odometer engine light on odometer goes off

It means your bike has recorded an trouble (error) code. depending on the year of the bike you can get them to display on the speedo or you will have to have Harley or shop find out what the code(s) are.
