Question about kawasaki VN 2000 Classic LT Motorcycles

Hi and welcome to fixya,
With this problem, you'll need to check for the battery. It is possible that it can no longer hold charge. Have the battery checked. Since it starts after it is already warm, it is likely that it charges for a bit and that makes it possible for you to start through the key. If the battery test fails, replace it with a quality brand, or better.. a sealed maintenance free battery. They last longer than regular Motorcycle batteries.
Hope this helps,
other details relating to starting problems would be the carbon brush and wiring but I recommend the above solution first before spending unnecessary fixes.
