Question about 2002 Harley Davidson FXDWG Dyna Wide Glide

1 Answer

Battery seems to charge (light on charger goes from red to green), lights are bright but when starter is engaged there is just a clicking sound. I've cleaned the battery terminals and cable ends at the battery. Is there another place I should clean?

You may find the starter motor brushes need replacing.
Take the starter off and check for carbon dust and excessive wear.
Replacement brushes are available from main Harley dealers.
Hope that helps.

I have a brand new Ryobi kit put battery in the charger the red light goes on and the green light flashers on and off is this charging or should the green light go off until battery is charged.

When the battery is charged the green will be steady on and the red will go off. Flashing green is an indication that it is charging.

hope this helps?

Battery charger red charging light blinks once then goes out

Do the batteries charge? Are they charged? The green indicator normally is the status signal that the battery is charged and the red indicates that the battery needs charging or is charging. If you plug in a charged battery, some chargers will flash red momentarily then go out. This is an indication that the charger checked the battery (red light) and if the charge is good, the red light will go out. I hope this helps you.

Charging problem the red light and green light or both on when charging and the batteries don't seem to be charging

sounds like the batteries are dud, most chargers have 2 or 3 lights, red (max charging) Amber (battery nearing full charge) Green (fully charged and most will switch to a trickle charge) has the scooter been out of use for some time as scooter / wheelchair batteries must be kept charged, and only a short time of no use can destroy the batteries.

Would a bad solenoid cause a clicking sound when you turn the key but starter want engage

Yes and no. If you have a test light or voltmeter you could check the heavey wire which comes from the solenoid and goes to the starter. While attempting to start the machine if you have 12 volts or better(or the test light is nice and bright) on the starter end of the wire than the starter is at fault. If however there is no voltage at the starter and the solenoid is clicking your fault is likely the solenoid. This is all assuming your battery is at 12 volts or better and fully charged.

RYOBI CHARGER RED AND GREEN FLASHING LIGHT

My charger blinks red and green but I've literally only used my chainsaw 4 times. It's less than a year old. It won't charge the battery. What could be the issue? Or can I take it back to home Depot and use the warranty? Any help will be welcome.

This is not right. They should last much longer then that. I have one of the more expensive 18V lithium batteries (the one with the button on it that tells you if it needs charging or not) and I can use mine almost all day before it needs to be recharged. I do construction work and I use my Ryobi products almost all day. Either both batteries are bad (I don't believe that is the case) or the charger is not charging them all the way to a full charge. With this charger, you do need to make sure that you remove the batteries as soon as the green light comes on. It is not good on these batteries to stay charging after they are fully charged. You also should not leave the charger plugged in without any batteries charging. Please tell me more about the charger. When you plug in the charger, does the red light come on? When you plug in a battery, does the red light stay bright and the green light blink? Does the red light go off and the green light stay on bright when you remove it from the charger?
If the charger is not working correctly, then return it for a new one.

The chair will not move if the charger is plugged in. The flashes are normal with the charger plugged into the chair. The lights on the charger mean that the batteries have been fully charged. Red and yellow lights mean charging. After you unplug the charger from the chair (if off-baord charger, turn charger off or unplug from the wall) then unplug from joystick. after plug is removed from joystick press the on button and all the battery lights should be lit and when you move the joystick forward you will hear the electric bake release and the chair should move forward etc Hope this helps
