Harley changed their clutch in 1998 and I don't think they've changed it since. To change the plates in your clutch:

First, disconnect your battery, Remove the floorboard on the primary side and drain the oil out of the primary. Remove the outer primary cover. Remove the six screws in the clutch assembly and remove the clutch plates and steel plates. Soak your new clutch plates in oil overnight. Replace the old parts with the new parts in the exact same order. Rinstall the bolts using Loctite 242 (medium strength blue) and torque the bolts to about 20 foot pounds. Adjust the clutch according to factory specs and reinstall the outer primary cover. Add oil and reconnect the battery. Put the floor board back on and you're ready to ride.

Ride Safe.

Hyundai. Tucson, 59 plate' clutch slips at high speed when changing gear

check /replace clutch cable or replace master cylinder. If the clutch has not been replaced it may need a clutch kit as the indications are that the pressure plate is weak ( worn clutch plate or from overheated clutch)

Whinning noise from engine when changing gear went to pull off in 1st gear car stalled and now cannot engae gears is this just the clutch cable or something else

Hi, I think the noise you were getting while changing gear is most likely to be the clutch release
bearing ( as you press the clutch down the release bearing contacts the clutch pressure plate
fingers ).
The whinning noise is the bearing seizing up,
Unfortunately it looks like yours has damaged the fingers of the pressure plate so the clutch is not disengaging to allow you to select a gear.
A clutch kit will need to be fitted this contains clutch plate, pressure plate, release beaing
I hope this dos`nt turn out to be to expensive for you

Need instructions on how to change my clutch on my 97 roadking

All you have to do is drain and pull the primary cover. Now, I can't remember whether the '97 clutch had the bolts that hold it together or the snap ring. If it has the six bolts holding the clutch spring in, simply take the bolts out and your clutch assembly comes apart. You can change the fiber plates and the spring plate in the middle. If your clutch is held together with a snap ring, you'll need a special tool to disassemble the clutch. You can replace the friction plates, steel plates and the spring plate without taking the entire clutch off the mainshaft with either clutch.

Good Luck

My first gear is starting to slip and will not stay engaged. What do I need to do or check?

if its a standard your springs on your clutch plate are weak and your clutch plate is thin not holding to the pressure plate.unfortunately time for a clutch job.make sure whomever changes it that they change the pilot bearing, would reccomend pressure plate and clutch slave cyclinder otherwise another couple k and you'll be pulling it all apart again.do it once and right is better than being cheap an it costing u more later

Changing clutch plates on a 1994 KE 100

All you need to do is remove the right crankcase cover then remove the clutch cap and springs then the friction plates and clutch plates. Note that a friction plate is both the first and last plate in the clutch and that a pressure plate is in-between each friction plate. Friction plates are fiber, pressure plates are metal. No case splitting is required.

You may want to get a 3/8" impact driver to remove screws and hex head bolts and to tighten them back up. I find it to be the most useful tool in my shop. My Bluepoint brand impact driver is 40 years old an as good as new.

Need to change my clutch plates

Lay her on the left side, with the fuel OFF!!! Remove the clutch cover plate, remove the small bolts (5 or 6) for the outer clutch cover. Pull that cover out, and start pulling out plates, one at a time. Make sure you got all of them, as they stagger from metal (or aluminum) to fiber.Lay them out as they came out of the machine. Soak the new fiber plates in a good oil for a while before installing. Also make sure the "tangs" that the clutch plate ears ride on aren't grooved from wear. It it is bad here, you can file them down, unless it's really destroyed, then the basket needs to be replaced.
Reassemble in reverse order.

Clutch slip problem when gears are changed after 4000 rpm

you have 20k miles after the clutch has been changed, now are you used to drving clutch, secondly is it hydraulic or cable controled clutc?

if you are used to drving clutch sys probable cause is defective pressure plate or the throwout bearing is not fully releasing in other words the clutch is partialy applied all the time because of the re;ease bearing not fully releasing!!
