Can anyone tell me how to remove fairing on right side of 1986 suzuki cavalcade. I need to replace rectifier.

You can get at the Reg/Rect by taking the fairing and dash cover off. You don't have to remove the right side fairing. I have done it this way. Remove the seat, false tank, handlebar/clock adjust buttons cover, vent cover around the steering, right inner fairing cover, windshield, dash cover. Then you have access to the Reg/Rect. The wiring loom for it runs back towards the right speaker, the connectors there split to the Stator and noise filters on the yellow wires. The Yellow wires can also be connected to any of the yellow connectors. You can also join a Cavalcade email group accessed through www.suzukicavalcade.com hope this helps.

How do you remove the inner fairing and is this how you would tighten the handle -bars?

no need to remove the inner fairing to tighten the handlebars. You will have to remove the outer fairing however and the radio. Its not really difficult but I would suggest buying a factory service manual if you want to attempt it yourself.

Loose handle bars

Usually you do have to remove the entire fairing. The Loosness that you feel in the handlebars is due to the rubber bushing that the handlebars are mounted in. These bushings are designed to absorb vibration. Over time, they get mushy. You must gain access to the upper triple tree which not only involves the removal of the fairing , it could require the removal of the headlight nachelle as well. Good Luck.

Do I need to remove my fairing to replace the headling bulbs?

Hi there,

well you can please follow the below steps -

Remove the Fairing - 1. Unscrew all seven outer fairing fasteners using a Torx driver. These screws are located on the inner fairing near the windshield, the speakers, and the handlebar clamps.
2. Stand in front of the motorcycle. Tilt the outer fairing toward you and hold it firmly. Reach in and disconnect the wire connectors for the headlight assembly by hand.
3. Move the fairing to a work bench to continue the procedure.

Change the Headlights - 1. Remove the wire harness connectors from the back of each headlight that need replacement. Turn the plastic retainer counterclockwise by hand to remove each bulb from its housing.
2. Install the new headlight bulb or bulbs, with each bulb's wider ears on the bulb back plates oriented toward the top. Screw in the plastic retainer rings by hand.
3. Connect the headlight wire harness connectors to the back of each headlight.
4. Move the fairing back to the motorcycle. Reinstall the fairing, battery and seat in reverse order.
Please post comments if you need more help or information.........

Good Luck!!

Thanks
