Question about Yamaha G5 Motorcycles

1 Answer

I have a 1999 Yamaha Zuma Scooter, It starts and runs perfectly at idle but will not rev up, It was running perfectly but one day going down the road it was like someone flicked a switch and now it will not rev up. I have been through the carb and all cables are working properly, I'm guessing it has to be the electronic control, cdi unit, What do you think,?

Try a new spark plug and a new spark plug cap. The spark plug cap has a resister that can corrode or burn out causing spark issues. NGK makes an inexpensive cap for around $5. Make sure your intake manifold is not cracked, separated , or does not have a leaking gasket. Also check that you do not have a broken reed valve.

1989 zuma scooter runs all fine but!, when i take off revs will be low for about 3 seconds than will pick up n start goin quick than will drop again and will take ages to wind up to speed, any ideas? my...

stop using cheap gasoline. Run premium from Shell or Mobil. You will defiantly feel the difference. Your bike will thank you with years of enjoyment..ps never store for more than a couple weeks with gas in it..run it out of gas before storing than when you get it out and add fresh gas shell give you no problems starting because of a gummed up fuel system..good luck..
