Hello David?
Motorcycles have what is called wet clutches. The clutch is bathed in the engine oil(crankcase oil ) To ck the adjustment, squeeze the clutch lever enough to take up any slack. There should be at least 1/4 in freeplay. If no free play the clutch will slip. Too much free play and the clutch won't dis-engage.after verifying free play, Take this part with serious thought. Wet clutches do not like motor oil. It causes the clutch to slip. So, If you have changed oil or have added any and it was not motorcycle engine oil, It is more than likely your problem. You will need to drain the oil and filter and put the right type into the engine. The clutch has np separate oil supply. Lever adjustment should be at the clutch lever clamp. Now what is this 50/50? Good Luck-

Honda shadow clutch slipping

How many miles are on the Bike? Could be time for a clutch adjustment, or replacement. Make sure you also change the clutch springs as they wear also. Just to be safe go back to using your regular oil, I do not prefer the synthetic oil in my bike...

I just changed the oil in my Honda 750 Shadow and switched to Synthetic Oil. As you mentioned this could cause the clutch to slip. Wel it 's slipping. What's the fix?

I'm assuming that you have a "wet" clutch, unlike most cars that have a "dry" clutch. "Wet" means that the clutch sits in the engine oil, "dry" ... that it doesn't!
It's very important that you use only oil specifically made for motorcycles if you have a wet clutch, synthetic or not. The formulation of the oil-additives is different if it is to be used with clutches.

Using "normal" "car" oil, whether it is synthetic or not, is highly likely to result in clutch slip.

If this is what has happened then I can only suggest this course of action:
> Drop that oil out and replace the oil filter
> Refill with cheap motorcycle oil
> Drive for 10 or so miles, get the engine nice and warm
> Drop that oil out
> Refill with cheap motorcycle oil again and drive 10 miles
>> Hopefully at this point the clutch slip will be gone
> Drop that oil out and change the oil filter.
> Now fill with "nice" motorcycle oil

Best of luck :-)

'98 accord ex a/t ...when put into gear the transmission seems to slip then slams into there a problem with the centrifugal clutch or what?

There could be but the easier thing to check is to see if your fluid is good. Check the level of your fluid and the condition. If it is brown or black, or has a burnt smell have the filter and fluid flushed and filled at a reputable shop. Also having it serviced at a shop like this it will remove all trash and possibly prevent further damage. Many times a transmission slipping in and out of gear at startup indicates bad fluid/filter or a trashed up valvebody. A flush and fill usually fixes both problems. Please let me know how it turns out for you.

Clutch seems to be slipping

If it is a hydraulic activated clutch, there is no adjustment, clutches slip from wear of the friction plates or from using car oils instead of motorcycle oils

1997 Honda Magna VF45c 750 clutch adjustment

Did you do an oil change recently? Sometimes a motor cycles clutch shares the oil with the engine and a different kind of oil then the bike requires will cause the clutch to slip. This happens alot especially if someone switches to some types of synthetic oil when the bike had regular oil before the oil change.

Transmission slipping

the transmission doesn't have a dipstick, on the rh side(transmission side) the fill and drain plugs are located where the axle is inserted into the transmission usually the fill plug is opened with a 17mm wrench and the drain plug is opened with a 3/8 ratchet(fits perfectly into the square hole. and you fill it up until it runs out of the fill hole. you could consult your manual for the proper type. honda used to use motor oil 5w30, 10w30, but they have since replaced the use of those fluids with ther own manual trans fluid which is somewhere in the neighborhood of $5 us a quart(at least in my neighborhood) it holds like 2+1/2 qts us. the problem that you have sounds like a worn out clutch, which typically slips in the higher gears, also if your model has an egr valve that could cause the car to surge between 1400-2500 rpm which could feel like "slippage" usually the egr valves don't go bad but the control solonoids do.
i hope that this helps
