Can you replace the crank oil seal with the cover off from the outside or do you need to split the cases?

Hi, Endo that would be a lot of work and this is your lucky day no case splitting and the gearbox oil capacity is 650ML for this scenario you will need your service/owners manual if you can't find the first and best tool you ever bought for your Yamaha, despair not, for a mere $0 you can download another one. For more information about your issue and valuable "FREE" downloads that you will need please click on the links below. Good luck and have a nice day.

Water leaks where engine and transmission connect, looking from the passenger side under the truck.

thats sounds like a core plug has blownout or rusted through, have to split engine from gearbox to gain access to the rear of engine block but first make sure its not above where gearbox housing butts to engine ie may have a higher core plug or a split hose ,

Lexus is200 gearbox removal

quick run down: remove gear stick from inside the car, split the prop shaft and remove, remove clutch slave cylinder, undo all gear box bolts and remove You will want a long extension , the access to the top gearbox bolts is very limited.

Suggest changing the Lubrican't in the gearbox while your at it, it is often neglected.

hope this helps

no not really but it may be easier to buy another gearbox from scrapyard as splitting a manual gearbox is not that easy without the right tools, now what you do in this case is to remove the filler plug and then pump in with a grease gun some LM grease say about a half kilo can and what happens is the grease gets hot in driving and settles to the bottom of the gearbox sealing it up for you ,old fleet fitters trick from 40 yrs ago but it does work .cloudy and thunderstorm here in spain at the moment hence which is why iam on here and not in the garden watering my orange trees

Do i need to take engine out on my mg midget to change gearbox thanks

hi,

simple answer is yes.

the rear part of the transmission tunnel curves underneath the back part of the gearbox so you cannot just lower it down as you can with most rwd cars.
the gearbox must be brought forward a fair way to clear this.
you easiest option is to remove the engine and gearbox together, split them out of the car, and bolt them back together to refit both into the car at the same time.

hope this helps.

Hi, there,me gearbox, just jamed,is the gearbox and the motor all in one,how hard is it to get the gearbox out.thanks

The transmission is not easy to remove from the bike, as it requires you to first remove the engine then split the engine cases to access it. If you want to tackle this task, picking up a copy of the official service manual is a must.
