Take the bolt out of the rear of the seat. Slightly lift the rear end of the seat and pull it backwards. Work the seat backwards out of the strap. You may have to take the sissy bar off to do this. The seat comes out of strap that goes over it.

How to charge a battery on a 2012 Harley Street Glide

Hi Anonymous, the best way to recharge a battery especially one that has very low voltage or is completely dead is with a low amp trickle charger. If you are in a deep sleep would your rather be awaken with soft gentle nudges or a swift kick in the rear. Seat removal can range from the simple and obvious to the complex and baffling for the novice new Harley Davidson owner. Seems like the more expensive the bike is the harder it is to remove the seat. So let's start with the most expensive. 99% of all Harley seats have a male tounge in the front that slides into a female reciever that is either bolted or welded to the frame just behind the fuel tank. For this reason when ever you are removing a seat you must always slide it backwards 3-5 inches. Next they may may have a bolt on each side usually under a flap on the seat. Then there is the seat strap that is secured on both sides, only one side needs to be removed. A single phillips head bolt can secure it to the rear fender or it may have a bracket with two studs secured by nuts or knobs to fasten the rear portion of the seat. On newer model short seats there may be a "T" stud that locks in the rear portion of the seat just a few inches in front of the rear seat bolt, you have to push forward and lift up after you remove the bolt. If you have a pillion pad or passenger seat that snugs up against the front seat there can be a bolt securing the two to the rear fender, you have to get your hand in between the two seats and force seperation of seat material to see and gain acess to the bolt. Finally there is the rear seat bolt in the back that is the caboose of seat fasteners, usually a large chrome bracket, that screws into the rear fender. Care must be exercised in covering this shinny bauble with your hand during the sliding back procedure so as to NOT scratch the tour pak. So when all the hidden and mysterious fasteners have been removed, it's lift up in the rear, slide backwards a few inches and bingo you have mastered the impossible. Good luck.

Remove seat 2008 flhrc

There is one screw through the tab on the back of the seat to the rear fender that needs to be removed.
Additionally, if you have the grab strap between front and rear passenger seat, you need to either unbolt one end of it (the same bolt holds on the front saddle bag mount) and thread the strap through the slots in the seat, or unbolt on both sides of the strap.

Lift back of seat slightly, and pull seat to the rear to remove.

I need to remove the seat on my 2001 Soft Tail Standard FXST. Took out 2 bolts (one on either side) as well as the bolt for the passenger seat, but seat still won't budge. Any ideas???

Remove a bolt on each side as well as the passenger seat bolt on back fender and pull firmly BACK on the seat to dislodge the seat from the channel that is securing the front portion to the frame. Seat Strap will have to be removed with a T40 Torx wrench to allow separation.

How do I remove the battery from my 2003 soft tail classic?

Remove the seat, disconnect the rubber "hold down' strap, disconnect the wires and lift the battery out. Earlier model softails had a bolt on either side of the frame to hold the seat on just in front of the rear fender struts.

I just want to change the battery on my sportster ,1200, 2002 how do i get the seat off, or do i need to?

yes, you really need to remove the seat. Although I am not familiar with your particular model, most Sportster seats are held on by a single bolt screwed into the rear fender at the very back of the seat. Remove the bolt, lift the rear end of the seat slightly, and pull it to the rear. There is a tang on the front of the seat that slips under the frame. Once out, you should be able to see the battery and the strap that holds the top battery cover down. Loosen the nut and remove the hold down strap and battery top cover. Remove the rubber strap that holds the battery into the tray. Disconnect the negative cable first when removing the battery. When installing the battery connect the negative cable last.

Good Luck

Can't get my seat off of my 2002 Harley Fatboy in order to change a fuse underneath so I can get it started.

To remove the seat on a 2002 Fatboy:
1. Unbuckle the ******** the seat by pushing the metal part of the strap down from the left hand side of the seat.
2. There are two bolts located underneath the seat on the sides one on the left and another on the right which you have to unscrew.
3. There is another bolt located behind the passenger seat that you have to unscrew lift the seat up and that should do it.
PS When reinstalling the seat watch out for the bolt on the passenger seat not to scratch the tail of your bike.

How do you remove passenger and driver seat from 2000 HD fatboy

with a stock seat there is 3 connection points, 1 under each side flap of the riders seat, the last one is behind the seat. If the grab strap is what is giving you a problem, on the left side of the bike where the strap is attached can be slipped down with an egg shaped slip on the strap. Special note: The 2 bolts under the flaps is a real "P.I.T.A." to get back on, if it hasn't been off a few times, and the bolts will strip, so use caution.

Getting seat off 2005 Heritage Classic

There is a large bolt on either side of the seat down on the side. It uses a large hex key to remove them. Take these two bolts out, lift the seat and pull to the rear. That should do it.
