Hi, you dont say if this is only 1 spark plug that does not spark, or the 3 plugs dont spark, lets assume its all 3, and you have checked that the engine run switch is in the run position, this is the switch on the r/ h handleber throttle twistgrip housing, also you have 12volts charge in the battery, the next thing to check is as this bike has 3 ignition coils 1 for each cylinder and also 3 sets of contact breaker points you can narrow the problem down to each cylinder indervidualy, ie if no1 cylinder does not spark check the points/ contact breakers are opening, more importantly closing for no1 cylinder this will be marked on the contact back plate, it may be nessasary to clean the points with some lite wet and dry, with the plug removed and resting on the cylinder head making a good earth, opening the points with a screwdriver between them should make the plug spark, when the ignition switch is turned on, repeat this on all 3 sets of points until you are happy they all spark, do not leave the ignition turned on for long periods of time without the engine running unless the run switch is in the off position as this will cause the ignition coil to overheat and eventualy burn out. realy great bike hope you manage to make it run, any further help feel free to contact me and i will try to answer your question, paul

I have a 2002 Mitsubishi galant. I replaced the fuel pump, spark plus and coil packs. It still won't start. Any ideas?

ignition controller (computer) - easy to check. hook up one or two of the old coils with old spark plugs. make sure plugs are touching metal on the motor (for grounding), have someone crank starter while you CAREFULLY observe plugs, you should see spark at plugs. if spart, i'd check for timing sensor problems, if no spark then problem is in ignition computer.

I can start my craftman 6.5 ,21"mower mulcher. Spart plug is new.Gasoline is fresh.

Does the mower have spark to the plug? Remove the spark plug & reinstall into spark plug wire. Next you will need to get spark plug electrode next to a metal object on the mower engine & pull the cord & see if there is a spark-(do not hold onto the plug with your hand when doing this as you will get a jolt if there is a spark)-if there is no spark then chances are that your flywheel is rusted where coil gets its signal from or you have a bad coil itself. If there is spark are you getting gas to engine? Try a small amount of starting fluid sprayed into carb filter & see if it will run, if so could be a blockage in screw that holds carb bowl on-(has a small hole in the very bottom)-and bowl probably has sediment in it also. Be careful when removing carb bowl & in most cases seal can be re-used.

Craftsman hand held gas leaf blower will not start. I have put in fresh gas, changed spark plugs, cleaned the gas filter, tested for spart and it does spark, changed the air filter but all this and still...

If it has a spark then try spraying some starter fluid on the air filter. If it attempts to run then the carburator is stopped up. If it doesn't then you most likely have low compression. Remove the spark plug and screw in a compression tester and pull the starter a few times. It has to have no less than 70 psi to fire and run. 90+ would be even better. If it is 50 and below try pouring a little oil in the spark plug hole and repeat the test. If it improves a little then you have a scored cylinder or piston or stuck or broken piston rings. Let me know what you learn and I'd be glad to walk you through some more.

My 1999 olds 88 is running very ruff and sometime cut off this problem started last night , i haven't done anything so for to the car to fix the problem

Could be several things. The first thing I would check is the spart ignition. One way to check to see if you are getting proper spart is to take one spark plug wire off, insert a philips screw driver in the spark plug wire end and hold it about a quarter inch from any metal part of the engine. Have someone turn the engine over and watch for a spark from the screwdriver to the engine. Don't touch the metal part of the screw driver, the spark will pop you pretty good. There shoud be a big sharp spark, if not you may have a bad coil in the ignitions system.

.045 should be about right.

when you buy spark plugs for your specific vehicle, look on the box or ask the auto parts salesperson, they should have that info

No spart from coil

If the coil has no spark, the coil pack is most likely bad. In order for you plugs to fire off, it has to receive spark from some type of coil.

No spark in my echo 4600 new spark plug tested screw driver to casing no spart how do i test the magneto or do ou have any other solutions thanks

You need to get a spark checker tool. What you do is you connect the tool to the spark plug while it is screwed in and then connect the other side of the tool to the spark plug wire. There is a light in the tool that will flicker when you pull the starter cord if there is good spark.

You can get a spark checker at any autoparts store, Harbor Freight, Northern Tool, etc.

Once you have checked for spark, if you see the light flicker and it still doesn't start, come back here and I will take you through further troubleshooting.
