Hello and welcome to Fixya! Well first lets start at the tank, remove your fuel hose and make sure your getting fuel out of tank. Next check your line from the petcock to carb. If here is no fuel coming out from this point inspect your petcock for any obstruction, try blowing air threw it. Its either something plugged inside tank, or your petcock. Now if you are getting fuel out of petock to carb, remove carb and inspect where the fuel line hooks up, remove float and float needle and then blow air threw it. If its clear then check your float height and make sure its adjusted to spec. If you need further assistance please feel free to let me know. Thanks and good luck! Cycleworx157

check for fuel flow blockages including a blocked needle and seat in the carby. Remove the carby bowl and main jet and blow out any obstructions including water.

I have a honda 8hp on a mortar mixer. it gets fule in the bowl but will not run long. lite iys just using the fuel in the bowl. It used to run great. It has sat for a year.

first thing to do is take the fuel bowl off.then turn the fuel tap on.fuel should be running out of the needle from the carby.if not, the needle and float is not working properly. turn the fuel tap off .spray some carby cleaner into the needle and seat. turn the fuel tap back on and lift the float up,this should stop the fuel from coming out.and when you let go of the float, fuel should start coming out.
lift the float up and down a couple of times to ensure it is working. put fuel bowl on and run.

Fuel goes from tank to carby but doesn't start. (air and spark ok) Do I need to remove the carby? How do I best do that?

standard diagnoses procedure - make sure you have good compression, make sure you have spark, make sure you are getting fuel to carby, if you have compression & spark and fuel to carby bowl then you probably have blocked jets in carby

2002 XR 200 sat for about 6 yrs with no attention. I drained the fuel, cleaned the carb, changed oil, new spark plug. still won't start. what next?

Remove the plug lead and plug. Earth the body of the plug to the barrel. Kick and check for spark.
If no spark you have found a problem.
If you get spark the problem is most likely the carby.
Remove the float bowl from bottom of carby and check that both jets are clear.

My 2002 Honda Shadow Sabre is leaking gas only when it runs. It pours out of the bottom. Do you have any ideas as to what the problem is?

Your float bowl needle is not closing when chamber is full. Needle is either worn a groove or dirt is caught in seat of the jet. Turn fuel off, remove float bowl and spray some aerosol carby cleaner thru fuel line till comes out bottom. Replace fuel line and hold float bowl up till it stops, (don't push up hard) turn fuel tap back on and if fuel comes out the bottom, your needle or jet seat is worn. If fuel doesn't flow out, your float bowl tab has to be adjusted, bend upwards to decrease chamber capacity. Cheers.

I have a yamaha ttr230 and since i have pulled it out of storage this spring it cant make it run right. It starts fine and idles but a soon as any throttle is given it dies out . I have put fresh gas in it...

G'day, sounds a bit like the float valve in the carby might be stuck nearly shut or just some moisture in the carby, a light tap with the handle of a screwdriver on the side of the carby bowl should fix it if it's the needle stuck shut (happens from sitting sometimes), or maybe try loosening the drain screw in the bottom of the carby bowl to drain any water etc out, hope this helps :)

Honda motor wont stay running ,carb not getting enough gas to stay running

as it is gravity fed you would need to remove thfuel line from the carby to check that the fuel is geting to that point,if not removanf clean fuel .bowl and filter . if ok. then a carby service is in order ,they are not difficult but you do need compressed air

When trying to start fuel pours from the carby

Been there done that, Carb needle stuck in the open position. Do NOT try to start it this way as if a cylinder fills with fuel it will hydrolock and cranking the engine can break expensive things. If you need to crank it pull the 3 spark plugs on the effected side and crank it over to remove the fuel from the flooded cylinders. This may require carb. removal and tear down if tapping on the carb bowls doesn't fix it. Same thing happened to my 1999 Valk. Interstate.
