Hello and thanks for using Fixya, This is common problem usually from bad fuel, or if the bike has been sitting for a period of time. The carb will need to be removed and cleaned thoroughly. Remove the jets and use carb cleaner to spray threw the jets, then use air compressor and blow out the jets and carb. Make sure that air is passing threw each carb orifice. The jet that's causing your problem is the pilot jet its got a very small whole and can become clogged easily. So after cleaning this one hold it up to a light and make sure you can see threw it. If not its still plugged. Don't use any type of drill bits to clean it, it will ruin the jet size causing a bigger problem. A good trick is if you have a wire brush, cut on strand off and use it to probe the jet, use carb cleaner as ou do this and it should clear out. Then air it out again, look threw it to make sure its clear. If its still plugged you can try soaking overnight, repeat process above. Or just go buy a new pilot jet. Then replace in reverse order and you'll be riding in no time! If I can assist you any further please let me know, Thanks and good luck, Cycleworx157

Yamaha ttr 90 jet pilot should it be open end to

The pilot should be open. This is to say that if you look through it at a light you should be able to see through it.
I suggest blowing it out with compressed air as well as the hole it fits in. While your at it give all the jets a blow out.
once you've put it back together I also suggest you fit an in-line fuel filter.
This will help to keep the dirt out and save you having ths same problem again
Hope this helps

I was out driving my ttr 230 and i had a full tank of petrol but i keep losseing power it felt like the bike was not getting power

should look at your fuel filter , or some bikes fuel feed works on a pulse from the throttle inlet of the exhust valves and runs to the pump. also check the fuel lines that they are not cracked cauz if there is xtra air being sucked through it will run crappy.. also if you have a manual choke the needle might have some **** in it which means when its not fully closed and a hot engine dosnt like that very much. maybe try cleang out your tank as things will float around until they get sucked down into the fuel **** and prevent the flow from accuring.
good luck
