Question about 2005 Honda VT 1100 C Shadow Spirit

1 Answer

85 VT1100, no power to start switch. I think I've checked/bypass all safety switches. Tried different start switch. Fuses all check out. Any advise on where to go from here or a wire diagram would be great! Thanks for your time...

My raypak 106A analog pool heater stopped working. There is usually a clicking sound when the water pressure switch activates.

Chances are when you bypass the switch the machine knows it's not there, therefore safety kicks in. Check continuity through all your safety switches. Good Luck.

Better check with a test light for power to the small wire that goes to the starter from the key switch. If no power need to check for a neutral safety switch or fuse. Or the starter you got is bad. Alternator will not cause not to crank over

Brake Lights don't work on the back of our 2003 Ford Windstar

Did you actually check the brake light switch for power in and out ?
There are two different fuses, one for each side. And the circuit includes the turn signal switch.
The third brake light bypasses the turn signals.

85' chevy manual truck ignition issues. won't start. i think its in the collumn somewhere. new keyswitch, starter, alternator, battery and cable ends.

When you say it won't start I assume you mean it will not turn over. Have you replaced the ignition switch? Not the key tumbler but the ignition switch. Have you checked the clutch safety switch?

Check the clutch safety switch and the neutral safety switch.
If the bike thinks the clutch is not in, or that the engine is not in neutral, you will get no click from the solenoid.
You can try bypassing the safeties to see if that is the issue too.
Get an ohm meter and measure resistance to ground on the solenoid inputs.
One will read dead short (ground) and the other will read ... well.... something else.
the other lead is the positive.
Make sure you are measuring on the skinny leads on the solenoid and not the thick ones.
Now run a shunt wire from the positive of the battery to the positive of the starter solenoid.
It should click and the engine should turn over.
If it doesn't click, or if when you measured the leads, one was 0 ohms and the other lead was totally open, then you probably need to replace the solenoid.
If it clicks and turns over, and the switches are good, start checking your fuses with the ohm meter.
You may actually even want to check the fuses first.

Check the user manual for the kill switch location. At times, these models are equipped with a removable key that will cause the same problem.

Riding lawnmower will not start with key. I tried a new key switch and a new solenoid. I checked all safety switches and they checked out OK. I don't know if the wires for the solenoid are hooked up...

Depend on the make and model of the mower....the safety switches usually are the seat, pto, shift lever, brake and clutch. If any of these are bad...the switch won't work. Can you cross the starter and have it start? With these safety can't just disconnect them to bypass. Most require a loop and running a wire from one side of the switch to the other will usually help you find the one causing the issue.

The solenoid comes in about 4 different models. Some ground to the frame and some don't. Not all key switches are the same either...we stock over 25 different switches and I could show you 7 that look identical but are different.

Personally I would start testing from the starter and work my way back...starter, solenoid, safety switches, starter switch.

My 1997 dodge caravan won't start. has no power to starter wire or to engine. battery ok stater ok switch ok fuses and relays ok

there is an interrupt switch, called neutral safety switch. When it fails or goes out of adjustment, no start, and essentially no protest or indication. Try foot on brake, shift to neutral, turn key to start and slowly move shifter out of nuetral in each direction. If starter actuates, look into switch adjustment.
