From reading countless opinions of other Goldwing owners, it seems the majority prefer Mobil Delvac 1300 Super Motor Oil 15W-40 and the
Purolator PL14610 PureONE Oil Filter.

I have been using this oil and filter on my 2008 GL1800 with 6000 mile change intervals and haven't had any problems. I currently have 33,*** miles.

After oil change with 4 quarts and filter, why does oil only come to add mark on dipstick?

Without screwing the stick in, the oil level should be between the two marks. The required amount of oil with filter change is 3.69 quarts so 4 quarts is plenty.

Okay I don't understand why on this earth would you not want to use a synthetic oil in your GL1800. Synthetic oils have proven themselves for longevity, superior performance and the list goes on. You are riding one of the best if not the best performance touring motorcycle in the world why destroy it with an off brand filter and petroleum based oils? Sorry can't help you with a "best" non synthetic oil or filter for your Goldwing.

My local honda mechanic told me that synthetic oils have a history of burning the clutches up on gl1800s. Anyone know better?.

Big scare back a few years about Mobil 1 and clutches. It was proven that synthetic oils worked with today's wet clutches just fine after may hundreds of thousands of miles under brutal conditions.

If you look close at Honda's own engine oils you will find they produce two types of oils one a semi-synthetic and the other a full synthetic. Check on-line to see what Honda recommends after all they are the ones that produce the oils and your GL1800. Consider it sort of a second opinion to your mechanic.
If you must use a petroleum base oil I'd suggest one sold with Honda's name on it or what I would suggest is a Pennzoil oil produce more importantly get the right weight/viscosity.
    Cheers

I won't use anything but Amsoil 10W40 motorcycle oil because of my past experience.

What oil to use--2008 gl1800

depends on where you live. if you live in a mild climate 50-90's-- any 10-40w is good. colder weather you ride in just decrease the viscosity of the oil you choose.

I need to know what kind of oil to use for a Honda motorcycle.

You need an SE oil, Wal Mart used and maybe still does sell a motorcycle oil (not their brand). You probably will need 30 weight or a multi viscosity (which I use 20-50). Buy a good oil, maybe a synthetic with that rating. Rear final takes 90 weight in most instances except cold weather. A parts house or bike shop will sell the right oil. Just buy the best oil you can, and keep it changed frequently & the wing will just about go forever, Hope this helps you with your scoot, Rick
