Obviously the installation of mod-chips in PlayStation 2 consoles is widely discouraged by Sony -- the reason is piracy. You must know that Sony has overlaid a seal onto each of their PS2 consoles. If this seal is broken (thus providing evidence that the console has been opened and "modded"), Sony will refuse to repair the system. On the other hand if your console is more than one yer old and no longer covered by the manufacturer warranty you should not worry about fraking the seal -- it will not change anything.

It can be done spending around few $15 to $20 i guess. Any local Play Station repair guy can fix that.

I own a PS2 which is modded before a year and still it works with out any trouble. You can ask if u have any questions about PS2.
Thank you, Thyagu.A

Hey, do you know, in my country Malaysia we got someone that can upgrade PSOne console to be able to play PS2 console game :) but I wonder, how they do that...?? That the problem, and I wish someone who...

The only way someone can get a PS1 to play PS2 games is if they modified a PS2 to look like a PS1. The hardware inside a PS1 is not powerful enough and not complex enough to run PS2 games. They would need to take a PS1, and take the insides out. Then take the insides of a PS2 and modify it so it functionally fit inside a PS1. This seems like cool albeit pointless way to modify your PS1 and PS2. Thanks for the question!

My stuff din't work with pirated cd's?

There are multiple "Mods" which can be performed on a PSP (as well as on newer consoles as well).

Some are hardware mods (the addition of chips which expand or bypass (depending on a particular mod) to allow the recognition and playback of various formats, such as 3rd party software. The problem with modding is that if someone isn't careful, the mod can also brick the system (keep it from recognizing the original, retail PS2 games, movies, etc....

Besides that, I can't tell you much more about pirating software, since it's illegal and I'm no advocate of that. You should ask your friend what specific "Mod" was performed, if that's even the case.

PS.. My advice - Don't let anyone modify the hardware on any of your devices, unless you don't care if they ever work again. Also, you can't play online games/content with modded systems...since they are automatically detected and banned from the servers.

Modifying ps2?

Depends on what you want. Note that modifying your PS2 in any way voids your warranty. Original PS2's I'm not so sure about. It involves opening the console, though, and I'm sure you can find a video on youtube if you look for it. But since you can't do any modification that won't involve a modchip, you'd better be prepared to solder a chip on there.

Slim PS2's you have a better variety of options. Tissue/Tape mod which blocks two censors and the disc brake, allowing you to use the Swap Trick or get good use out of a Swap Disc.

If you get a swaptool, or make one, you can do this on both the original PS2 and the slimline PS2.

Look up Free_MCBoot, and have an empty memory card ready. Either use the swap trick or use Swap Magic to install the memory card exploit. It'll contain ESR, which allows you to play burned games.

But there will be no support for your piracy, either. Not from the makers of Free_MCBoot, or the modchip makers, or even myself.

Hi how to burn a downloaded ps2 game into a dvd so i could play it with my console...tnx in advance...

Unfortunately, you cannot do this without doing a major modification of your PS2 or getting a a commercial grade PS2 burner for your computer.

The issue is that unlike regular DVD's, PS2 DVD Games spin counter-clockwise, therefore you need the games to be burned, counter clockwise.

A couple of years ago there were people out there selling modified PS2's and kits so you could modify your PS2 to play games burned clockwise. Do a google search and you may find them still.
