I had the same problem especially on hot days. It would not start and it would sit for a few minutes. It would try and start but then it would act like it wasn't getting gas. It turned out to be the main relay under the dash. $40 later everything was fine. I went online and asked and had many answers but this was the one that worked, I just wish it hadn't taken a year for me to ask. JettI had the same problem especially on hot days. D4 is an indicator that there are trouble codes stored.Trouble codes on that year Honda are pulled manually.Once the trouble codes are identified,there are diagnostic routes to follow to determine the problem.

First thing to do is have the computer checked for trouble codes. The blinking D4 light means overdrive is not going to function, probably because of the rough running engine.
Is there any kind of check engine light on, or emissions light on? Sometimes when the ignition coils heat up they will short out and stop working, and after they cool down they will work again only till they heat up, then they will stop. If this doesn't help i would need more information to better diagnose whats wrong. Thanks, good luck, Bob
you have a transmission fault the D4 light blinks to tell you that there is a transmission problem when the light is blinking the transmission computer put the transmission into limp home mode so it will not shift normally and you should try not to drive it very far when it gets to this stage you need to have the transmission codes check to pin point the problem
try checking the trans fluid level if its not that check connection on trans control module located under carpet on passenger side floor behind a panel same location as engine control module
Hey, 2 words.....Voltage Regulator! i had this problem and before you spend too much, check and make sure that your fan is grounded b/c most must be and then try an actual Diagnosas check normally around $80 but is does pin point whats wrong. Either Voltage regulator or you have a short.
It is flashing to indicate a serious fault has occured in the transmission, the first thing to do is have the transmission control module tested for a trouble code, this will lead you in the right direction to repair the problem.
