No, the groves may alow water into the oil, past the seal, or even outthrough the leakhole in the pump housing, would check condition of the radiator cap, make sure it iss sealing ok not got corroded or contaminated inside the radiator where the cap seals, you dont say what bike it is my bigest thought on this if the pre mentioned is not the cause would be the head gasket has failed, forceing presure into the system and pushing the water out, but without seeing the bike my advice would be to do a compresion test to eliminate this.

1984 cr250 i do have water in the oil, new rad cap, oversized piston, new oversized head gasket, cylinder head and cylinder shaved, , torqued to 20foot pounds

hi, the water in the oil may be passing the seal in the waterpump, ie the problem with the worn shaft may also contribute, did you have the issue with the water leak before you removed the head to do the rebore etc? i am thinking maybe a small leak in the cylinder, check for any microscopic cracks or pitting, is this the corect cap, is the water pump actualy turning when the engine is runing

i replaced the cylinder with a new one. new piston gaskets still leaking out overflow when i goose it. could it be that the cylinder head might have a microscopic crack in it. i had the head shaved in the past i believe it is true. water pump circulating coolant . correct (new) rad cap. rads flushed

I have a 05 Stratus 2.7L. Doesn't overheat. Has new t-stat, rad. cap, air bleeder housing. Temp stay normal all the time. But when I come to a stop, steam comes from reservoir ******. And when

Is the new T-stat temperature range the same as the old one? If it is, then there may be an air pocket in the engine block or a slight head gasket leak allowing combustion gases into the coolant. A good way to be sure is to take out all the spark plugs, pressurize the radiator with a tester and then wait a few minutes. Watch the pressure gauge for a leakdown in pressure. If there is any crank the engine and have a helper watch which cylinder coolant comes out. Another place to look is the water pump impeller. Is it worn and pitted? Impellers have been known to loosen on the shaft which will cause an overflow into the reservoir tank in the early stages before failure.

Water/coolant is being pushed in the expansion bottle,

Sorry almost certainly your head Gasket, sound like a break between a cylinder and the water jacket - hence the bubbles.

Have the coolant level checked. The overflow for the Radator which is usally a white container marked coolant check that to see if there is any coolant in there. There should be some with a cold or hot check level. DO NOT REMOVE RADATOR CAP IF HOT ENGINE...

Water is coming out of the radiator and is going into the overflow tank when engine is shut off

this is normal. The heat from the engine is no longer being circulated by the water pump, this causes the pressure to rise. The coolant is expelled into the coolant tank. The coolant is drawn back into the radiator as it cools. If the coolant level is low when checked ( bike cool ) then there may be another problem. Over heating due to stuck thermostat or blown head gasket. Be sure the coolant overflow tank hose is not cracked or leaking.

3.3L & 3.8L Engines To Remove:
Water pump location (3.3 and 3.8L engines) 91153g21.gif

  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
  2. Drain the cooling system.
  3. Remove the serpentine belt.
  4. Raise and safely support the vehicle. Remove the right front wheel and lower fender shield.
  5. Remove the water pump pulley.
  6. Remove the five mounting bolts and remove the pump from the engine.
  7. Discard the O-ring. Clean the O-ring sealing surface and inspect the water pump for damage, cracks, seal leaks, and loose or rough turning bearings.
When installing the pump, make sure that the O-ring is properly seated in the groove in the pump body (3.3 and 3.8L engines) 91153g22.gif

To Install:
  1. Install a new O-ring into the water pump groove. Install the pump onto the engine. Tighten the mounting bolts to 108 in. lbs. (12 Nm).
  2. Install the water pump pulley. Tighten the water pump pulley bolts to 20 ft. lbs. (28 Nm).
  3. Install the fender shield and wheel. Tighten the wheel lug nuts, in sequence, to 95 ft. lbs. (129 Nm). Lower the vehicle.
  4. Install the serpentine belt.
  5. Refill the cooling system to the correct level with a 50/50 mixture of clean, ethylene glycol antifreeze and water. Bleed the cooling system.
  6. Reconnect the negative battery cable, run the vehicle until the thermostat opens, fill the overflow tank and check for leaks.
  7. Once the vehicle has cooled, recheck the coolant level.

My 06 yamaha 450 gtyr has coolant coming out of the bypass hose under the water pump. I need help

If you mean the small hole under the pump, this is the telltale hole to show the seal is leaking. There is one seal to keep the oil in the engine and one seal to keep water in, and the hole is in a space between the two, you may need to replace the shaft as well if is grooved or corroded.

97 cadillac eldorado overflowing through overflow pipe

The most common overheating problem with the Northstar engine is a blocked purge line. It's job is to purge air out of the cooling system.
There is a small diameter hose coming from near the top of the coolant tank(not the cap),this is the purge line.
With the engine idling, pull the purge line from the tank,if there is no coolant flow from this small hose,it is blocked and this will cause overheating. If the hose is clear, check for blockage at the nipple on the tank.Or trace the hose back until you find the blockage. The hose goes in to the engine to a crossover and comes out the other side to near the thermostat housing, the blockage may be there.

Lossing water out of small hole on under side of motor ? Normal or not

Not, sounds like a seal vent for the water pump, shouldn't leak.
