My 85 f150 is making a clunking noise when driving down the road. Sounds like it's coming from the front. The clunk starts when you start moving and and the clunking increases the faster you move. No clunking noise if your not moving.

could be a number of things, like a bad brake, bad ball joint or a problem with a control arm

I seen this before and is the upper rear axle support, or the engine support just open your hood and see if the motor move to much, or get on the back the car and look under to see it the axle move to much wile some one is shifting. MAKE SURE TO APPLY EMERGENCY BREAK

sound like axle bearings shoot when turning clunking noise. inspect axel boot if torn replace.

I would start by replacing U-Joints. They are really common issues when it comes to clunking noises. I'd start there.

shocks my be going bad push up and down hard on top of the car over each front wheel and let go..it should not bounce up and down more than once. if it does shocks are bad.

may be the gears in the rear end or check your motor mounts, ive had the noise and it was motor mounts

Some is typical and some could be sign of worn u joints Have u joints inspected for loosness When in 4 wheel drive the front and read tires compete with eachother especially when turning causing a hopping or chirping. U joints are under alot of stress in tight turns and might make nois as well again check to see if worn and at the same time lube them if equiped with fittings

My 2003 F150 Supercrew would not engage in 4x4, it ended up being the shifting fork in the front end, cost me $200.
