Hi, first you must loosen the nuts that secure the bar. Then, you must find the tensioner screw which should be located on the opposite side of the bar. Use the appropriate screw driver to increase the tension on the chain. If you pull on the chain and it lifts about a quarter inch off the bar, then chain has the right tension. Re tighten the nuts that secure the bar. Good luck.

Show me how to adjust bands on a 2000 dodge durango

Transmission?

They are adjusted one time, brought down tight
on the drum & then backed off the 3/4 turn or
whatever is required, then nut locked tight

The bands do not wear enough in 100,000 miles
to require further adjustment

Also, band adjustment is not a fix for any trans
problems, the apply servos can get hard rubber
seals & deposits on the pin etc,so forget it

If you turn the bolt the wrong way, then the parts
fall inside the pan & removing it is no guarantee,
you can get things back together without pulling
the trans

Friction ring assembly of remington model eleven

Examine the chain saw to verify that the chain is still attached to the sprocket. If any part of the chain is not on the sprocket the chainsaw will not cut correctly.

Check the tension of the chain. If the lower part of the chain drops away from the guide bar, you will need to increase the tension. Remove the shield on the side case and loosen the nuts on the guide bar with the wrench. Pull the guide bar to increase tension on the chain and then tighten the nuts.

Clean the chain if it appears dirty. A dirty chain will not cut as efficiently as a clean chain. Loosen the tension on the chain and then take the chain off of the guide bar. Soak the chain in a solvent, such as mineral spirits.

Examine the sprocket on the chain saw. If it appears worn, bent or out of pitch, a new sprocket will be needed.

Examine the chain to see if there are any damaged drive links. Replace the chain if too many of the drive links are damaged because the sprocket will not turn the chain.

Examine the guide bar to see if it appears crooked or is out of alignment. Remove the nuts from the guide bar by following Step 2. Take off the old guide bar and then install a new one.

Sharpen the chain if it looks shiny. The shine on the chain indicates that the steel that is underneath the chrome plating on the chain has worn away. Use a round metal file on the steel until there is a thin overhang of chrome over the cutting edge of the chain. This will restore the cutting edge

Im having discover 135cc, an i want to remove the chain cover an put the chain strep, will it damage thr chain.

The chain cover is there to protect the chain from collecting dirt and and to save anything getting stuck in the chain eg. cloth which you are wearing.
The chain cover also protects the chain because when you leave the chain open to the elements you have to constantly oil the chain which dries out due to dirt, and in turn when you oil the chain too much the oil flows off the chain which would get on clothes etc.
Removing the chain cover does not damage the chain but the maintenance sure does increase trust me i have done it and I know, hope this helps

Just bought a cougar for £200 she needs a bit of love. Firstly the chain is slack does any one know how to tighton it ? and it had a new battery in december 09 and its worn out is there a...

hi, with regards to your chain,
if your slacken the rear spindel bolts but dont take it out, the wheel becomes free, then you have adjusters either side on the swing arm were the spindle goes through,
i belive its either a 12mm or 13mm spanner and tighten the adjusters untill the chain becomes tighter, u need roughly about hald 2 - 2.5 cm slack on the chain so it does not snap.
then do up the spindle bolts and check the alignment on the adjusters, if theres both the same then your good to go. (remember to loob the chain befor you ride it though)

Yes, the loose belt certainly seems to be the possible problem in this case. It's likeley the tensioner pulley has broken and needs to be replaced. Also, try to change the belt at the same time if any of the ribs are cracked or if the belt is frayed.

Chain slips

Your problem statement seems to be chopped off, but apparently, when you go to cut something, the chain just stops turning. Assuming that is so, remove the bar and chain, then wash out the interior of the clutch mechanism with spray carburetor cleaner. Let dry and re-assemble the bar and chain. Make sure the chain is being properly oiled by running the saw at speed with bar tip near some cardboard--it should leave thin line of oil after several moments. Make sure the chain teeth cut toward you on the bottom run of chain. Hope this helps!

3.0 Peak HP 16'/41 cm remington

You might actually have the chain too tight. With the saw off you should be able to lift the chain until the gear tooth (tooth on inside of chain) almost lifts out of the chain bar.
I've never used an electric chain saw but if it has a chain oiler you should also check your chain oiler to make sure you're getting enough oil on the chain, if you run the saw with the chain aim at a clean surface you should see oil on the surface almost immediately.
