Torque wrench.
Set of sockets.
Loosen the front wheel nuts. Dont remove yet. (Wheelspanner needed)
Raise the front of the vehicle and support it on axle stands.(Jack and 2 axle stands)
Remove the front wheels.
Remove the caliper guide bolt caps(flat screwdriver or similar)
Remove the caliper guide bolts(Allen key/hex driver) Torque to 30 Nm(22lbf) on reassembly.
(On the left wheel disconnect the pad wear sensor.)
Pry out the anti rattle spring (flat screwdriver)
Pull the caliper from its mount. This may be difficult if there is a ridge on the rotor. Try
twisting/pushing/pulling the caliper to force the piston back into the
caliper. Do not use a hammer!
Hang the caliper off the coil spring with a piece of wire. You dont want it hanging by the brake hose.
Remove the pads.
Remove the brake pad carrier (Bolts on from the rear of the carrier) Torque to 110Nm(81lbf) on reassembly.
Remove the disc mounting screw(single screw that holds the disc to the hub)
Pull the disc off the hub.
It is possible to remove the whole caliper/pad carrier assembly in one piece but it makes reassembly a bit more tricky.
Discs should be replaced as a set of 2 at a time.(left and right)
Minimum disc thickness is 20.4mm(0.803")
When fitting a new disc and/or pads it will be nescesary to compress the caliper.
There are several special tools available for purchase. This link is my solution to an expensive tool when the piston wont go back by hand.
A set of metric wrenches or sockets will do the job
