Question about 1996 Honda CBR 400 RR

My sons 1990 honda CBR400RR Engine revs freely at stand still,will not rev through the gears,feels strangled.

Sounds like a mix issue and things are working and adjusted going into the cylinder.

Is your exhaust clogged? Is the condensation water draining correctly (your tail pipes are high so water collecting in the exhaust on cold engines will stay in the bottom. It could even build up if you only take short trips and your small drain holes are clogged. I've also heard of a kids sticking things into exhaust pipes before!

Finally, sometimes rust or other causes clogging. Unfortunately, I don't have an easy way for you to check it.

My 1990 GMC Sierra 4x4 wont shift into overdrive the engine just revs up after second gear. All the other gears work fine.


check the wires on the overdrive solenoid on top of the gearbox .if ok change the overdrive relay.

VW golf 1.6 (2000 plate) I have no revs above 3500 revs when on the move. It tucks over fine. I have changed the mas and put new plugs and leads on. It feels like the engine is being strangled. HELP PLEASE


Blockage in your AIR FILTER or Intake (if you suck up a Plastic Bag from the road, it will do this)... A Clogged Air Filter, or Clogged FUEL FILTER

Check that the kick stand switch is not faulty. this will kill the engine when it says the kick stand is down.

This is actually designed to run at those revs. It\´s basically the best way to maintain reasonable power to wheels at high speeds with an engine that is not powerfull enough to produce the HP needed to maintain that speed or higher speeds with a higher gear ratio.

Gear changing in a hero honda cd deluxe?


The gears work like this. Start in Neutral. One kick down is First Kick up for second then third fourth etc. You need to pull in the clutch (left hand) when you feel the time is right. If your going slow maybe 5000-7000 revs, if your going fast 9000-11000 revs. It's more a feeling that you get after riding for a while. Changing down is pretty much the opposite. Rev matching is something you will never stop learning, so don't worry if you get it wrong. Just take your bike out and learn how it feels.,,,

sounds like bands in trans are worn take to trans shop sometimes they can adjust bands and cure if it aint too late and time for rebuild
