Usually you just replace the shocks, as wear causes tolerances to go off, and leaks happen. Shocks are usually replaced in pairs.

Gio/Orion 125cc. Why is stock rear shock leaking oil?

Hi, Ryanpilgram187 for this situation I would call my local dealer or reputable shop's service/parts department and inquire about any possible quick fix, answers, or parts inquiry. If necessary, transport your bike to the dealer or shop and have a professional technician take it for a test drive, if it is in running condition, and give you a written estimate of repairs and answer any specific questions you may have about your problem. Slight trace of oil at the bottom of rear air shock

Hi it could be the seal in the shock. These are air assisted shocks not just air. If the leak is not too bad leave it alone otherwise you may need to replace the whole shock. Regards Jim...

Kx250 rear shock is out of oil how do i add oil to it

If the bike is real bouncy with no dampining you need to have shock rebuilt you cant just add oil to fix. Most rear mono shocks have a little bottle of nitrogen gas on side of shock. When shock seals go bad the oil and gas leaks out. Most times it is cheaper to find shop to rebuild shock then buying new one.Mono shocks can run anywhere from 250.00 to 500.00$.you can get rebuilt for about 100.00 to 150.00$ depending on parts needed.

The rear shock on my et4 scooter is very tight and when riding at the moment it is very bouncy and the back end swings

Sounds like it has burst a seal and leaked all of its oil out, is there still oil ont he suspension leg? I had this last year on my Yamaha Fino, it's very dangerous to continue riding on it!

Loosen rear plastics on the suspension side. Fix the bike on its center stand to take the weight, the rear wheel will drop down.

Loosen the double nut at the top part of the shock. Once released, this makes it easier to get to the bottom bolts. Remove these, replace with a new shock.

Maybe go for a firmer spring/shock if you carry passengers. I've regularly got two on the bike so I went for a 230lb spring.

Hope this helps and vote for me please if it does.

This past riding season I began to notice a few drops of oil directly under my rear shock on my Royal Star Venture. It's an 07 with 35,000 miles on it. My wife & I ride 2 up most of the time and...

First I must state I'm not familiar with your particular model but AM familiar with rear shocks.(have re-built hundreds)
First thin to check is that if it is re-buildable!
The easiest way to tell this is to see your dealer and ask to see the parts fisch for the rear shock. If it displays a seal assembly then it is re-buildable.
Also you could try a local shock repairer/suspension tuner, they should Know.
Here in Australia a shock re-build costs about $300-$350 if the shock shaft hasn't got wear damage to the chrome.(They can be re-chromed)

If the shaft is worn then its not much different to the price of a new one I'm afraid.
As the shock is charged with nitrogen gas to high pressure I would NOT RECOMMEND you to try rebuild it yourself !!!!
But removing it yourself, while a little tricky sometimes, can save some$

Hope this helps a little

P.S. To find a shock repairer in your area try the classified section at the back of your favorite road bike magazine!!!

you could replace the one shock but do you know why it is leaking oil? Typically unless there was something traumatic to happen to one of the rear shocks, then if one is going you can almost be the other one will go soon. I ended up having too many problems with the air ride suspensions. If you haven't yet, look into conversion kits as something to consider for down the road if nothing else. has a great kit that is made in America and comes with a lifetime warranty. They have a good reputation and track record and can help you save some money and find the permanent solution if anything else goes wrong.
