Best as I can remember, you take a single bolt out of the back of the seat, lift the rear of the seat and pull to the rear.

Good Luck

I'm having trouble removing the battery from my 2004 FWDWG Dyna Wide Glide. Any suggestions?

Well. let's see if Harley has changed anything. I can tell you how the earllier Wide Glide batteries came out and we can see if Harley has changed thing drastically. I doubt it.

First, remove the seat. The bolt at the rear of the seat screws into the rear fender. Remove the bolt, raise the rear of the seat and pull it to the rear. The seat should come off. On some bikes, you may have to remove the small sissy bar by removing the two small bolts on either side of the uprights on it.

Now, you'll see the battery box on the right side of the bike. Look just rearward of it and you should see two bolt heads between the battery box and the rear wheel. The are battery tray lock bolts, loosen them but don't take them out.

Now, look just inboard of the battery into the frame. You'll see the head of a "jackbolt". Turn the screw counterclockwise and the battery tray will lower and allow you to get the top cover and the surround off. From there you can get to the cable connections at the battery post.

I hope this works for you.

Good Luck and Ride Safe.

I'm trying to change the battery in 2001 dyna wide glide I removed the bolt to the left of box that comes up thru a backwards c-shaped bracket and into the frame. The only other thing that I can locate is...

On the older wide glides, you had to remove the seat. There were two bolts between the battery box and the rear fender on the outside. Loosen, but don't remove these two bolts. Back under the seat just inside the frame was a "jack bolt". Turn the bolt Counterclockwise and the battery tray would lower, Clockwise to raise it back up. Once lowered, top cover and outer cover would come off the battery. I hope this helps.

Good Luck

How do i remove the battery cover on my 2002 fxdwg to replace new battery?

Remove the seat by taking the bolt out of the rear fender at that rear of the seat. Lift the seat and pull it to the rear to get it off the bike. Just to the rear of the battery box on the right side of the bike, there are two bolts, loosen them. Look behind the battery inside the frame where the seat came off and you'll see a bolt. This is a "jack bolt". Turn this bolt counterclockwise to lower the battery tray, clockwise to raise it. Good Luck.

Theres a diagram somewhere - I'll try and find it for ya ....in the mean time

heres how its done
remove the seat , then battery neg. at frame, positive at terminal, then feel around the outside of the box - there is a rear lower bolt and an upper bolt - - this will cause the battery tray to swing down when they are removed

Can't get the battery removed from my bike

remove seat
Remove the seat and you'll see a nut directly inside the frame rail behind the battery.
Lower the battery tray, once you loosen the two bolts to the rear of the battery.
You do not need to remove them completely.
