Question about 2005 Yamaha YZF-R1
You have a bad battery..... check all out at AutoZone or other auto stores that offer free testing. there are many.
Simple... if it starts with a jump... you have a lack of battery power... bottom line.
you should also check your charging system at same auto center.

i use a jump box on mine most weekends when i wanna take it out, i hook the red to battery and black onto my exhaust and it fires right up no problem. is the clicking noise coming from the fuel pump behind the ignition? it should click for a few seconds then stop. if it stays on then you are not getting enough fuel outta the tank, change the fuel filter and if bike had been stored for winter get a good fuel system cleaner, additive type. if in USA get Berrymans B12, double dose get bike to run hopefully let it stand overnight and all should be fine. fingers crossed. if is is clicking from somewhere else like starter or a relay by the battery, check all the ground terminals you can find
thats a link for a free pdf service manual

it sounds to me like you have a faulty terminal, check voltage reading to the relay from battery pos terminal, now push and hold button and recheck on same terminal, if it stays at around 12volts check terminal on other side of relay it this is lower significantly than first side replace again with new relay. of both terminals voltage drops you have faulty battery.

First of all you need to make a self diagnose to the ECU in case there is a faul code stored inside. If there is one it will help you to narrow down the problem.
You could also check the right hand switch (kill switch) for normal operation.
A probable cause also could be the fuel pump. When you turn the key on and the kill switch in in "run" position, do you hear the pump working for a few seconds? After you start the engine does it stil work?
