Question about Harley Davidson FLSTC Heritage Softail Classic Motorcycles

The oil in my heritage softail has drained in to the crank case.why did this happen? is safe to start it up or do i have drain the crank case first. jake

There is a check valve that prevents oil from flowing back into the crankcase, i would not trystarting it with the oil in the crankcase, could damage seals etc,

Where are the oil drain plugs on 06 heritage softail


Oil tank drain plug is a hose on the right side of the bike that goes down to a fitting on the frame, behind the transmission. The drain plug is threaded into this fitting on the frame and is accessible from under the right frame rail.
Trans drain plug is underneath the trans housing.
Primary drain is to the rear of the primary housing.

on the right side of the bike where the swing arm and frame meet look for a 5/8" head drain plug pointing straight down that is your drain for the engine oil.

softails drain from the oil tank. There should be a rubber hose under the oil tank with a plug. Look around, you'll find it

Oil drain plug


its not a plug its a hose look under the tank on the pipe side, look for the hose thats goes to the bottom frame rail (tube) thats the drain hopes this helps

Its at the back of crank box right hand side of bike attached to bottom of frame in a sprung clamp just before the softtail swingarm- black hose with a plug and hose clip
