Try adding a product called Sta-bil to your fuel, this is a brand name fuel varnish and gum remover as well as a stabilizer thats stops fuel from gelling when stored for long periods. You can buy it at any autoparts store, the little white jug with two spouts and is red in color

It often will clean out the gum and varnish that is pugging your low speed jet.

I just did a rebuild kit on my 2005 raptor 660 Runs way better and idles smoother but wants to die out off the start in first. But once you get going runs good. Any help

Hi, Anonymous and the usual suspects are:
1. Throttle cables misaligned or misrouted (may also affect idle speed).
2. Damaged or restricted fuel tank venting system.
3. Inlet system air leak.
4. Vacuum piston malfunction.
5. Accelerator pump leaking or no output.
6. Plugged bowl vent.
7. Fuel level in bowl too low.
8. Restricted fuel supply passages.
9. Plugged jets or passages.
10. Worn or damaged needle or needle jet.

Hi Chase,

time to go for the engine repair,it can be wrong with engine bore ,piston rings ,valve rubbers,or all of them together .
i think its problem with your bore.

Raptor 660 backfires and pops

Hi mate most common setting on almost all carbs would be 1.5 to 2.5 turns out. if runs better with less turns out than this range, then you need smaller pilot jet, or if needs more turns out then 2.5 you need bigger pilot jet. The glowing red header pipe is normal every yamaha I know will do this especially if left to idle for more than a minute... Regarding issue of popping this nearly always due to lean pilot circuit. first step clean pilot jet and or up size your pilot jet 2 or 3 sizes. just to clarify the turns out procedure make sure you are counting a full 360 degree turn out as 1 turn. I have seen in the past guys adjusting this air/fuel mixer and counting 180 degrees as 1 turn out needless to say it don't work... cheers mate hope it helps

Hi I have problem with my raptor 660 2004.il runs well as I slowed my gas it my ***** and he has no power I change its spaplug did not change, is it that his can - etres the coil?

if it idles fine but when you give it gas you say you have no power? then you have a problem with your intake and exhaust valves.they need to be set.I have a 2003 660 raptor and it was doing the same thing and that fixed it.
