Can you open the seat from it's locking position? Then you should see a hinge with 2 x size 10 bolt holding the hinges to a frame. Remove those bolts and that should do your tricks.

If you remove the riders right side cover below the seat...the coolant overflow reservoir is visible there....to add, I think the seat needs to come off....

The Yamaha R6 has two bolts that hold the riders seat on. You have to lift the foam and push forward at the rear end of the seat. The outer left and the outer right edge. If the bike is original it will be a 5mm allen head bolt and simply remove the bolts on both sides and then lift the rear of the seat up. The front of the seat has a lip that slides under the fuel tank bracket to secure it and simply slide it rearward and out.
HI MOST OF THE RIDER SEATS ON YAMAHA R6s ARE SECURED WITH A 5 MM ALUN BOLT, AT THE REAR OF THE SEAT IN THE CORNERS YOU NEED TO PULL UP THE CORNER OF THE SEAT TO REVAL THE BOLTS 1 ON EACH SIDE.

Fuel tank cap To remove the fuel tank cap 1. Push the levers on the left and right side of the rider seat backrest as shown and slide the rider seat backrest forward. 2. Insert the key into the lock, and then turn it 1/4 turn clockwise. The lock will be released and the fuel tank cap can be opened To install the fuel tank cap 1. Insert the fuel tank cap into the tank opening with the key inserted in the lock. 2. Turn the key counterclockwise, and then remove it. 3. Slide the rider seat backrest rearward and push it down. NOTE: @ The fuel tank cap cannot be installed unless the key is in the lock. In addition, the key cannot be removed if the cap is not properly installed and locked
To install the rider seat
1. Insert the projection on the front of
the rider seat into the seat holder
as shown.
2. Place the rider seat in the original
position, and then tighten the bolts
and screws.
NOTE: @
Make sure that the seat is properly secured
before riding.

3. Return the rider seat backrest to
the original position
with the key on the left hand side down by the ridder seat turn the key and pull up on seat sometimes to get the key to turn you have to push down on the rider seat
The two rear corners of the riders seat can be pulled back, you will find two allen head screws, simply remove them and the seat can be removed exposing the battery.
