I got the change engen oil soon sign and it cant be reset by the usual method

It is located in the glove box area, weird place to put it. Find the hole big enough to fit a pencil. Use a pencil or similar object through hole to push the button for 3 seconds and this will restart your oil life meter. I learned many different methods for different vehicles to reset the oil life when I use to work at a shop where we changed oil.

GM OIL LIFE SYSTEM - RESETTING
The engine oil life monitor will indicate when to change the engine oil - usually between 5 000 km (3,000 miles) and 16 000 km (10,000 miles) since the last oil change. Under severe conditions, the "CHANGE OIL SOON" light may be displayed before 5 000 km (3,000 miles). The vehicle must not be driven more than 16 000 km (10,000 miles) or 12 months without an oil change.

Reset the oil life monitor when the oil has been changed, use the following procedure:

1. Turn the ignition key to the RUN position.
2. Fully push and release the accelerator pedal 3 times within 5 seconds.
3. If the Change Oil Soon light flashes, the system is resetting.
4. Start the vehicle.
5. The oil life will change to 100%.
6. If the Change Oil Soon light comes back on, the system has not reset. Repeat the procedure.

should have two lights check engine and service engine soon.check engine means there is a malfunction.service soon is reprogrammable,when you change you oil. check you owners manual for reset.

When "CHANGE OIL SOON" or "CHANGE ENGINE OIL SOON" appears on the DIC, (Driver Information Center) press the "ENG-DATA" button until the "OIL LIFE INDEX" appears. Then press the "ENG-DATA" button and the "RANGE" buttons at the same time until 100 displays (usually after about 5 seconds).

CHANGE OIL SOON Light
1. CHANGE OIL SOON light will come on when engine oil has broken down enough to require changing. After changing oil, reset oil life display.
2. To reset light, turn ignition on. Open glove box to access oil reset button. Press and hold oil reset button in glove box for at least 5 seconds, but not longer
than 60 seconds. The CHANGE OIL SOON light will flash 4 times to indicate light has been reset.

At oil life, press reset

what oil regulators?? only change the oil filter and oil ,their is no regulator only a pressure relief valve but thats in the oil pump ,if the injector failed ,and allowed neat fuel into the piston then this would cause the piston to seize because it wash all the oil off the cylinder bore .then seize up time

To reset CHANGE OIL SOON/OIL CHANGE REQUIRED message on the Message Center, press the SET UP control to access the System Check mode. Press and release the RESET button to display “OIL LIFE % HOLD RESET NEW” is displayed. Press and hold the RESET button for 2 seconds until “IF NEW OIL HOLD RESET” is displayed. With the "CHANGE OIL SOON" message displayed, press any of the three DIC buttons to clear the "CHANGE OIL SOON" message. Display "OIL LIFE RESET" on the DIC. Press and hold the "ENTER" button for at least one second. An "ACKNOWLEDGED" display message will appear for three seconds or until the next button is pressed. This will tell you the system has been reset. Turn the ignition to "OFF". If the "CHANGE OIL SOON" message comes back on when you start your vehicle, the engine oil life system has not reset.
