Can you tune the carb or why not try a hotter plug, one that will get the fuel burnt easier. Is it oil that is fouling?

Hi I have a 1990 Honda fourtrax 350 4x4 the bike is turning over and not starting?

Hi, Shane and the usual suspects are:
1. Fuel tank empty.
2. Fuel supply valve/petcock turned off.
3. Fouled spark plugs.
4. Engine flooded as a result of overuse of the enricher.
5. Vacuum hose to the fuel supply valve/petcock disconnected, broken, cracked, or pinched.
6. Fuel valve/petcock or filter clogged.
7. Severely discharged or damaged battery, you need 12.5 volts or better and be able to pass a load test if necessary.
8. Check battery terminals for damage or corrosion, check the battery cables at "BOTH" ends for loose, corroded, or broken connectors, "INSIDE" and outside the cable harness, perform connector wiggle test and check cables with an ohmmeter if necessary.
9. Loose or corroded wire connection at the coil, battery or plug between ignition sensor and module.
10.. Spark plug cables in bad condition and shorting, cable connections loose, or connected to the wrong cylinders.
11. Ignition timing incorrect due to a faulty ignition coil, ignition module or sensors (MAP, CMP, CKP, O2, TPS, ETP, IAC,or BAS).
12. Faulty neutral, clutch lever, or kickstand safety switch.
13. Faulty fuel pump fuse or relay.
14. Tilt sensor needs a reset.
15. Security system not disarming alarm needs a reset.

1994 honda 4trax no spark

Hi, Jdebord if you have a CKP sensor it needs compression to send the correct signal to the ICM/ECM, make sure both spark plugs are in heads and use a grounded third plug to check for spark or hold spark plug cable close to spark plug in the head. If still not getting spark the usual suspects are:
1. Fouled spark plugs.
2. Discharged battery, check battery terminals for damage or corrosion, check the battery cables at "BOTH" ends for loose, corroded, or broken connectors, "INSIDE" and outside the cable harness, perform connector wiggle test and check cables with an ohmmeter if necessary.
3. Loose connection at ignition coil or plug between ignition sensor and module.
4. Spark plug cables in bad condition, shorting / leaking, spark plug cable connections loose.
5. Faulty ignition coil or ignition / electronic module
6. Failed CKP, CMP, or BAS sensor.
7. Faulty ignition switch.
8. Security alarm failing to disarm needs reset

MY Honda trx200sx won't fire. It's started several times before but now it wont.

Hi Romane:
The two magic ingredients are:
- Spark at the plugs - Pull the plug, make sure it's not fouled, connect the plug wire, ground it against the head, and spin it over. You'll be looking for a hot blue spark.
- Fuel in the jugs - It can't run unless there's a fuel/air mix in the cylinders. Start with clean fresh gas in the tank. drain and clean the carb. If it's gummed up with stale varnish and jello, that can be an exercise in patience.

Make sure that your battery is fully charged.

Hope this helps.

My 1988 Honda cbr 1000f keeps backfireing every time i try to start it and wont start

how old is the fuel in the tank ? fuel goes off after 5months !! or it dould be contaminated with water or dirt etc , recomend cleaning the tank and removing the carbs and stripping and cleaning the jets etc !!
has the bike been unused for a long time ?
check that all spark plugs are sparking and check the compressions of each piston ! 100 psi or more is correct for each one , if less then the rings or the valves need investigating !
if you have any more information it will help me !
thanks Paul ...

I have a 1997 honda 300 fourtrax,4x4 that just turns over but won't start. the spark plug looks good, is there a fuse somewhere to check or could it be some othef electrical problem?

You have only two major things that you can check real easy. One is spark and the other is fuel. You can remove a spark plug and ground it to the engine and crank it over and see if you have spark. If you have spark then you may not be getting fuel. If that's the case then reinstall your plug and spray either a small shot of starting fluid into the carburetor intake at the air cleaner or WD-40 will work also and crank it over and see if it fires. This will give you a good starting point so you can find out which direction to go next.

Get into the flywheel it sound like the keyway may have took a dump. If the keyway fails it will cause the flywheel to spin out of whack causing the ignition coil to spark at the wrong time it will cause backfires and no running

The bike was running fine. now it will not start at all. Does not seem to be getting any spark

Fouling a spark plug with unleaded fuel and wet fouling a spark plug with ethanol fuel is more common than you would think. Take out the old plug. Test for spark with a new plug. Then put in the new plug.

I have power coming to the coil, pints but no spark. There is a new battery and coil in it so I`m stuck, please help

Try a new spark plug cap and for that matter a new plug(wet fouling is common with ethanol fuel) should only cost about $5-$10. I have seen people reinstall points 3 or 4 times before they were able to get spark. make sure the points are installed correctly and not grounding out.
