1999Range rover 4.6 hse. Won't engage into gear, makes grinding noise when shifting back into park??

the grinding noise is the park pall trying to engage in the teeth around the drum in the box
run the fault codes as it appears to be a solenoid/servo problem or a TCM fault.

What are the problems of a faulty transmission speed sensor in a 2002 land rover discovery 2 v gas?

run the fault codes and look for a faulty torque converter clutch solenoid /servo and a problem TCM unit. A service if not done in the last 60.000 miles would also help.

I have an intermittent fault on my range rover hse 2006 automatic, seems to miss a gear revs then surges into the gear change, sometimes the dashboard warning reads transmission fault, limited gears...

It could very well be the gear box. Before I read that part of your question I was leaning that way. It could also be a malfunctioning computer chip. I would find another garage that will diagnose the problem independently. Just tell them the problem don't say you had another garage look at it already. If they have the same result go with the lower bid or ask if they can be the lower bid. If they are different diagnosis you may want a third opinion. Of course this is assuming that each diagnosis is free. Good luck.

My battery dies constantly on my 2000 range rover>>>>>>it also says gearbox fault does the battery cause this problem

there is no connection with the battery drain to the gear box issue., the reson the engine dies out must be checked.
So when this happens you might have to see the alternator or the rectifier/regulator is showing errors or a error in the sensors detecting a fault.
It is good to have the scheduled service , the codes checked for any errors for evaluating .Check the charging voltage/current to the battery.

1991 Range Rover AWD Doesn't Work

im sure you checked this but they have a habbit of snapping front prop, i would guess this has happend and been removed. the transfer box is a borg and worner, on a p36 i have never had or heard of trouble, ive been inside p38 transfers and there is nothing to prevent 50 50 split power. the axle its the same. check the prop is still there, if so get back to me.

Gear box

Hi Steve, without knowing a bit more about your disco, ie, age, 200 or 300tdi, can you get all the gears when in 4x4 ?,it might be difficult to pinpoint your fault, but going on your first description i would say that the high range on your transfer box could be the problem. Do you have a local transmission repair workshop to you?, they should be able to confirm this for you
