Is it better to rebuld or pelace the alternator

Hi,

It is actually cheaper in some case's to rebuild but in others it is cheaper to buy new. If you can rebuild it yourself then it is cheaper but if you need to take it to a shop , try to get the best price possible on a new unit and get someone to fit it.

Hope this helps.

Thanks

Jason

I have a 1988 1100 katana #1 and 4 is not firing what is it ?

Your coils should be running 1 and 4 and 2 and 3, so the 1 and 4 is shot. Look on ebay for a pair, or borrow one to see if that is the problem Should be it.They go bad. Hope this helps.

I bought a 92, 600 Katana. It has been sitting in the rain and such for two years. Had it checked by a shop and now I have a parts list for rebuilding the carbs. Before I start anyone know the best way to...

just tear it all out and replace the parts, not much to that part, but be very carefull with the posts that hold the floats. To set the float level, set them upside down on a level surface and look to see if the floats look level to the horizon of the earth. If they need adjusted, bend the little tab one way or the other (the tab that pushes on the float needle. Good luck, it isn't a hard project, but they are very touchy so don't be surprised if you have to take them back out a couple of time to adjust stuff. Good luck
