You can charge the battery without removing the battery. Find the large cable that comes from the battery where it connects to the starter. Connect you positive charger clamp there. Connect the negative charger clamp to any good frame ground on the bike. You can charge you battery using this method provided you battery charger clamps are not too big.
If you can't do this, you'll have to take the seat off the bike, remove the battery hold down strap, and then move the battery outwards so you can disconnect the negative battery cable.
you can remove the seat, then undo the bolts on each side of the bracket holding the battery, then of course remove pos and negative wires, you can do it without removing the seat, just easier access
had simular problem on my 2007. Speedo would die after bike was washed . Harley screwed with the bike several times replaced speedo nothing. Turns out to be connector on speedo water was getting into it and corroded it . Not enough grease put on connector when built.
Nothing needs to be removed. You have to move the swiring around just a little. Magnetize a 11 mmm socket and set it on using a 1/4 inch ratchet, with a short extension. Loosen the nut and pull it out. Its a bi&^%$%^ to get out but it will come right out and then pull the battery out the side. make note on how the cables are set on the battery so you put it back in the proper way and the battery cables dont touch anything when you put them back in the holder. Hope this helps. TOM
It's behind the cover on the left under where you sit.The cover (black) snaps in place.Pull gently on the top of the cover and it will unsnap to access the battery.
