I've a 7+yrs super4 spec2. The problem is, after travelling for a short journey, the bike engine dies off as if the petrol is not going into the carburettor or the carb is not feeding fuel into the cylinders. I rev the throttle but there's no effect. The engine dies off. I tried opening the fuel tank cover thinking it could be airlock and after a few minutes wait, the bike can be re started again and I can continue my journey. This problem recurred after more than 6months(it's happening quite often before) until I changed my radiator water pump fan. The engine dying off while riding eliminated until two days ago when I changed new spark plugs. Please help with this problem. Thank you

Here is 2 things that comes to mind 1 . fuel system has filter problem . if you let your bike set
the filter settles back . that is why it starts again . replace all fuel filter and line if possible .

2. coils have been known to get hot and quit , and cool and work and stop . have coils checked
and replaced .

if this does not help ? I have other solutions........

If you are using old fuel ? drain the tank and replace all fuel filters.
Make sure before you fill your tank with new gas . you take a flashlight
and look in the tank, and if you see anything at all that looks like rust
flakes or water, you must clean before you replace any filters or gas.
Now pull your spark plugs back out and clean with steel wool, check
gap , and put plugs back in plug wires only, then rest plug tip against
head metal, crank bike look at spark jumping from plug. Should be
blue, if it is ? Install plugs and run bike . should be ok. If it still cuts
out then your carbs need to be rebuilt, diaphram will fix it but if you
go as far as taking your carbs off , you should go the distance and
do a complete rebuild, you will be very proud of yourself, when job is complete.

Got a weird starting problem with my Citroen berlingo van

Sound like it's starter motor at fault. With you saying it's after a long run there will be a lot of heat in the engine/gearbox this could be causing the starter to stick, like you say after half hour or more it's OK and short journeys you have no problem.

What should i do about water in engine 98 harley fat boy?

Was the engine submerged in water or are you asking about water in the engine oil? If the engine was submerged for a lengthy time it will need stripping as water may have seeped in through the intake or exhaust valves and breather system. Also, if the engine was running when it was submerged you may have serious damage done as in bent conrods or damaged pistons. Get the motor stripped as soon as possible to prevent rust. On the other hand, if you have water in oil as in condensation, it is a sign that you are not letting the motor reach normal running temperatures. HD recommends a minimum or 15 to 20 miles each spin to make sure the motor is fully warmed to evaporate water for oil. This water is a by-product of combustion and can contain harmful substances. Another sign of condensation or a short journey bike is what we call 'cream cheese' at the oil filler cap. I have opened short journey motors and found the inside of the rocker boxes full of it. Also, if you drive a short journey bike hard, you can get this 'cheese' to come out of the engine breather pipes. To stop this, simply drive your motor for at least 30 minutes any time you drive it. If you do this the 'cheese' will disappear after a while. Also a good two -three hour run every month or so will work wonders if you cannot do the 30 minutes minimum time.

sounds like a speed warning light as fitted to japenese market bikes...this would mean that you've got an unofficial import...

My son's KTM 50 senior pro doesn't start. has petrol vapour coming out of the pipe.

The engine is running too rich. The carburator needs tuning to get the fuel mixture correct or the choke may be stuck in a partially closed position.

Hi My motorcycle Hero Honda Dawn had problem at the time of starting a journey. The bike showing some Power missing alternatively . But it will solve after 10 minutes of ride, What is the problem Is it...

possible weak battery? its better after a run... when it's charged a bit off the alternator. it's possibly not holding the charge overnight and being a bit sluggish in the morning... have it checked - a half charged battery makes a half charged coil... zap? . which will spark but not quite so good as a fully charged coil ZAP!
also check the plug for oil fouling and check if the oil level is too high - if so drain the oil down to the Full mark - this can happen after a lot of failed starting attempts as unburned petrol gets past the cylinder into the sump, filling it up... If THIS has happened you need to change the oil and filter, oil full of petrol does not lubricate the engine!!! - I think its 10W30 for your bike, it takes about 2 pints.
Sounds like its almost definitely electrical tho...

Yamaha sr 125 how much air should i pump to rear and front tyres

Hi!
You are asking a sensible question and obviously are concerned and rightly so for your safety and others plus tyre wea.
Good on you!
However it depends on load, circumstances, conditions and the type of tyres/compound you have.
So as a rule of thumb, 28/30 front normal conditions rider only short journeys, 30/32 rear normal 2 riders +- 2psi for loads and long runs.
Hope this helps, press the Blue button please to rate my FREE! efforts, Thank You!
