Question about Honda CRF 100 F Motorcycles

3 Answers

I have an 08 crf 100. The bike is like new with only about 70 hours of riding on it. After about 10 minutes of riding, it runs totally different. It revs up fast and makes a rattling noise. You can only go about 10' in first gear and it feels like something is going to break. The loss of power is considerable. I parked the bike after this happened and the next day it seemed fine from the start. Then, the same thing again after about 10 minutes. Also, the gears become slightly difficult to shift into. I changed the oil and spark plug, and cleaned the spark arrestor screen and air filter. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Can you be more specific? How do I fix it?

  • dand_1 Oct 20, 2010

I did not notice any shavings. Probably less than 500 miles.

I will do that. If this is the case, what is the solution?

When it does this pull the spark plug and check fire. I believe the CDI box is getting warm and not firing the plug good. You should maybe check the spark before it warms up. It will be a blue almost purple. When it starts loosing power check it again. I bet it is firing orange. Orange is not good. Especially if you are not running high octane fuel.

Have you checked the tranny and clutch? Sounds like that is where your problem is at.

You can visually see your clutch. If it's too thin it wil need to be replaced. If it has lots of life left, try adjusting the nut on the cable to get it to tighten up and engage fully and easier.

If you ran it out of oil, chances are you're gonna need more than just rings. Good chance you will be rebuilding or replacing the motor.

My crf 100 wont start it seems like its not sparking. i got a new spark plug and i dont see no spark what do i do i wanna ride

Be sure that the handlebar and side stand kill switches are off. Have a friend kick the bike over ( in neutral ) while you ground the bottom of the plug against the cylinder. Without being grounded, the plug can't spark. Don't twist the throttle more than once when starting. You can easily flood the engine.

How to Maintain a Bike's Tire Pressure for Good Performance?

Buy a good floor pump with a gauge (see "How to Buy a Bike Pump," under Related eHows). A small, frame-mounted pump is useful only for roadside repairs.

Understand that it's normal for most tires to lose up to 10 pounds per square inch (psi) per week. This does not mean you have a slow leak.

Look on the tire's sidewall for tire pressure recommendations. Don't exceed the maximum tire pressure listed.

Inflate your mountain bike's tires to 40 psi for dirt riding. You may wish to inflate your tires to 50 to 60 psi for city riding.

Inflate your road bike's tires to 100 psi for road riding. Some road tires have much higher psi ratings. However, 100 psi will provide a good mix of performance and comfort.

Inflate your hybrid bike's tires to 60 to 70 psi for city riding.

Check your tire pressure before every ride

I lost my key for my honda crf 100 , should i get a new ignition for it then get a new key

It all depends on what you want to do. Your bike should have came with a key code so they can cut you a new key. If you are worried about someone found the key and is going to steal the bike, then I would get a new ignition switch.

I have a 2005 CRF230F and I am able to get up to 70+mph without all the aftermarket stuff on it. I hear the 03-08 are pretty much the same and all very indestructable and bad-***. Love my bike, its a great all-around bike (trails, sand, street, track) would never sell it!!!
