SOURCE: Installation of Sissy Bar

the bolts on the rear fender area hold the sissy bar as well as the rear fender. I had the same difficulties. you will have to buy long bolts that will fit through the sissy bar and through the chrome and then through the fender. I found this out the hard way when I removed the sissy bar and did not replace the bolts. the rear fender was close to falling off the bike.
the bolts are found in diy stores. the only restriction is to make sure the bolt does not go into the area of the rear wheel so that it might come in contact with the tyre.

SOURCE: having a hard time getting

Your turn signals should have hollow bolts with wiring running thru them correct?? Now remember that you have to take the other bolts off or at least loosen them, on the rear strut. So you should have covers on the struts, then the struts themselves (frame) then your rear fenders.

Usually I have to manipulate the fender and kind of bend it inward as i work in the sissy bar. Use cloth though on the fender so you dont scratch the paint. Dynas can be a little challenging, good luck.

2013 Harley Wide Glide tail lights when putting extension on for sissy bar not working now.

Hi Anonymous, always check fuses and bulbs first for broken filaments. Then check the connection at the rear fender wiring harness, inspect for corroded, broken or loose pins. Use a dab of dielectric grease and repair as necessary. Check your brake relay if you have one , check your brake light switches for continuity, some models rear turn signals were single filament bulbs only, no running light. If all else fails get out your test light and start tracking the power wire from the harness connection. For a free wiring diagram please visit the website below and good luck:

Sissy Bar Install on a 2008 Screaming Eagle Dyna

Been a while since I've done one of these, but I believe you have to take the shocks loose at the fender struts and drop them down and out of the way. The signals should go back on in the same place, no relocation. On a couple of these I've had to get longer bolts for the signals, but it may not be required, so keep this in mind. And, yes, I know, it would be nice if HD would include the bolts or at least tell you about the possibility of needing longer bolts, I've said this to myself many times in the past.
