The oil site glass is on the left side of the bike down around the shifter and I use a extendable mirror and a flashlight. I aim the mirror at the site glass while shining the light at the mirror. easy

My 1989 vn commodore series 1 keeps overheating randomly


Possible leaking head gasket, this will cause bubbles. Have pressure check done.

Check that your crankcase oil level is not overfull. Have bike compression tested and check that it is within spec.

It has a nylon gear that strips. You can get a metal to put in, at least thats what i found on my my 1996

How do you check the oil level


you check the oil level by looking at the sight glass it should be 1/2 to 3/4 full on the sight glass or on your filler plug there is a level at the bottom where the oil should touch

Cant find oil dipstick or spy glass on 03 vulcan 800 classic


on my 1999 vn 800 the site glass is just under the kick stand..you will need some one to hold the bike level while you look at the oil level or stand it next to a wall or something to check the level, they are the same up to the 2005 models..
