Question about Yamaha Fzr600r Wfairing Motorcycle Cover Super Sport

I have a 1991 Yamaha FZR600. Every once in a while, usually after trying to pull the front end up, it runs like ****. Real rough @ low RPM, and once its up in RPM, I have to keep cranking on the throttle, and releasing it to get it up there. After a couple days it runs great. Any suggestions?

Clean the carbs and sync them and make sure the idle is set at the right rpm. with older bikes pulling the front end up with just stock jets and gearing takes alot of effort unless you dump the clutch at about 6000 rpm while rolling.

Engine runs rough at low RPM when engine warm


Hi, Anonymous and the usual suspects are:
1. Spark plugs in bad condition or partially fouled.
2. Spark plug cables in bad condition and leaking check for spark leakage in the dark.
3. Spark plug gap too close or too wide.
4. Faulty ignition coil, module, and or sensor.
5. Battery nearly discharged.
6. Check battery terminals for damage or corrosion, check the battery cables at "BOTH" ends for loose, corroded, or broken connectors, "INSIDE" and outside the cable harness, perform connector wiggle test and check cables with an ohmmeter if necessary.
7. Intermittent short circuit due to damaged wire insulation.

17. Faulty MAP, CKP, O2, and/or CMP sensors.

How can a 600 be wired to a minisprint and have it start and run thru the RPM range and idle?

Hi, Anonymous in order to check out any main system electrical circuit, you have to start with a fully charged battery 12.5 volts or better, and be able to pass a load test if necessary.
1. Check battery terminals for damage or corrosion, check battery cables at "BOTH" ends for loose, corroded, or broken connectors, "INSIDE" and outside the cable harness, perform connector wiggle test and check cables with an ohmmeter if necessary.
2. Check the voltage drop at the battery when you hit the starter button, anything below 9 volts you might have a faulty battery.
3. Check voltage at the battery with the bike running at 3,600 RPM should be 14.3 to 14.7 volts. If you are not getting these numbers, you might have a faulty voltage regulator.
4. Make sure voltage regulator is "GROUNDED" and functioning properly, watch the video below on how to test a voltage regulator.
5. Unplug the connector to the alternator and hook your multimeter leads to the alternator (pin/socket selection does not matter) set the multimeter to AC volts, at an idle the meter should read 16 to 20 volts AC. at 2,000 RPM 32 to 40 AC volts, 3,000 RPM 48 to 60 AC volts. If you are not getting these numbers, you may have a faulty rotor, follow step 6
6. Set the multimeter to OHM'S, connect one lead to the alternator (any pin/socket) and the other to a ground, the meter should read infinity. Connect both leads to the alternator meter should read 0.1 to 0.2 OHM'S. If you are not getting these numbers, you have a bad stator.
7. Check all wiring in the charging circuit for worn or chaffed spots and all wiring connectors in the circuit for corroded, broken, or loose pins/sockets, which is the # 1 offender.

I have a 93 yamaha fzr600 will not start cant even jump start what is the problem


Hi, John and the usual suspects are:
1. Ignition Switch not in the "ON" position.
2. Engine Run Switch in the "OFF" position.
3. Discharged battery, check battery terminals for damage or corrosion, check the battery cables at "BOTH" ends for loose, corroded, or broken connectors, "INSIDE" and outside the cable harness, perform connector wiggle test and check cables with an ohmmeter if necessary.
4. Bank angle sensor tripped and ignition/light key switch not cycled to the "OFF" position and then back to the "ON" position.
5. Faulty starter button/switch.
6. Faulty jiffy stand or clutch pull in switch/sensor.
7. Security alarm needs a reset.
8. Starter control circuit, relay, or solenoid faulty.
9. Main fuse or circuit breaker may be blown or faulty.
10. Electric starter shaft pinion gear is not engaging or over-running starter clutch slipping.

Runs bad under 3000 when riding like in the wrong gear

My 1991 FZR600 is only firing on cylinders 1 and 2

1. Fouled spark plugs.
2. Discharged battery, check battery terminals for damage or corrosion, check the battery cables at "BOTH" ends for loose, corroded, or broken connectors, "INSIDE" and outside the cable harness, perform connector wiggle test and check cables with an ohmmeter if necessary.
3. Loose connection at ignition coil or plug between ignition sensor and module.
4. Spark plug cables in bad condition, shorting / leaking, spark plug cable connections loose.
5. Faulty ignition coil or ignition / electronic module
6. Failed CKP, CMP, or BAS sensor.
7. Faulty ignition switch.
8. Security alarm failing to disarm needs reset

Is there such thing as a 1991 fzr600 and a 1991 fzr600r?


1994-5 were the only two years for that bike according to this page. Keep in mind the model/letter designations are not the same everywhere in the world. On the page they also list several years of "Yamaha FZR 600 (reduced effect)" which someone could call an FZR600R, even if that's not exactly what the factory called it.

My 1993 FZR 600 doesnt want to go into the 9,000 rpm range.


A stage three would help,,,,,, but it can be a can of worms that really takes a GOD(that was a typo I meant good, but it fits) mech to setup. That aside they usually work fine as per the default instructions. Use the moderate settings, if you go for the high performance modded engine it wont run very good and will get **** mileage and it will have less horsepower.
