Valves could need adjusting, try tuneup first. New plugs and wires, new air filter and clean fuel filter.

Bogs down with little acceleration

run fault codes and look for accelerator position sensor and MAF/MAP problems. Have a pressure test done on the fuel manifold to check for pump, pressure regulator and filter problems.

Ford Escort - 1997 car does not accelerate up hills. it revs if i am careful on flat up to 50mph but not past that? need to know what it possibly is and how it might cost asap? thanks

Look into exhaust, clogged cat conv. could cause that. Best way to test is a vaccum test on the intake. When exhaust is restricted the vaccum should go to 0 at the intake manifold while accelerating.

I have a ford escort 1.6l x reg, 2000 it drives fine til i get to 50mph then it just wont go any faster even with the accelerator to the floor, why is this?

2 possibilities
1- cheap- replace fuel filter
2- if above does not fix- could be catalytic converter in exhaust( not cheap)

Slow acceleration, high rpm

This sounds normal to me! The engine will read that rpm when accerlerating lightly. It is the stall of the torque convertor. The oil pressure will always be higher when the rpm's are higher, or when the oil is thicker - cold.

Virbration? That is a different story. Oil won't cause that.
