Only runs with choke on


Hi, Jeff and the usual suspects are:
1. Fuel cap or fuel tank is not venting properly.
2. Fuel filter clogged.
3. Fuel line pinched or kinked.
4. Float needle and seat sticking.
5. Float level too low.
6. Carburetor bowl vent line clogged/blocked/pinched.
7. Idle adjusting ***** set too low.
8. Air/fuel mixture ***** set too lean.
9. Idle port, transfer ports, slow air jet clogged.
10. Slow fuel jet clogged.

Runs and starts great but won't idle

1. Idle speed improperly adjusted.
2. Inlet system air leak.
3. Leaking accelerator pump.
4. Loose low-speed jet.
5. Plugged low-speed jet.
6. Contaminated or plugged low-speed circuit.

Idles with 1/2 choke. If open choke, or throttle - engine dies without any RPM spike. Carb was cleaned, jet is clean. When idles, there is gas in the primer bulb.

If it is older bike the reeds in the carb could be bad or going. Might what to check out the choke also.

Hi,
The CDi usually breaks down when it gets an over voltage from the voltage regulator.
Try to replace the voltage regulator so that the CDi won't overheat.
Check also the ignition coil, it might have a short circuit it the connection terminal or the polarity is wrongly placed.

2009 YAMAHA TT-R50 STOCK AIR/FUEL SCREW SETTINGS ?


Yamaha actually doesn't give specs for fuel air mixture. The manuals state that each bike is individually tuned at the factory, and if you clean the carb, you're supposed to screw it in, record the number of turns and put it back to that setting.I have one, and currently it's at 2 turns out, and for all little bikes, between 1 and 3 is where they should be at. If it won't idle, the pilot jet is wrong or dirty. Good luck!
