My bike is 96 1400 Intruder. I researched the problem of my inability to downshift to first after having been in fourth gear. Sometimes I could not even get into second gear. The solution for my bike was to squirt spray lithium grease into the where the the shift lever rod comes out of the transmission. There is apparently a bushing that got hung up as I had never lubricated it before. The shifting worked perfectly. I plan to open the small ccover so I can get inside the case and hand lubricate the bushing completely.

Thread suddenly jams , bobbin won't turn,after cleaning, re-threading etc makes one stitch with wheel turn then jams again.


Besides installing a brand new needle (which you've already done), unthread the top thread. (Cut the thread below the spool, raise the presser foot, and pull the thread DOWN from the thread tail end--NEVER PULL thread UP!)

ALWAYS RAISE the presser foot and rethread the top thread from the beginning. Verify the thread path is correct. Set the upper tension to the midway point and then tweak it so both threads meet in the middle of the fabric.

Why won't my 2002 Volvo s80 shift out of park?


All vehicles have a safety feature that won't allow a vehicle to be shifted into gear without the drivers foot being on the brake pedal . Shifter interlock system . There is a electrically controlled solenoid that locks the shifter ,when you step on the brake pedal an electrical signal un locks the shifter ,allowing the gear selector to move.

I have a 2009 Pontiac G6 with 32,700 miles. Lately, sometimes it is difficult to put it in reverse. It kinda jams, but finally will change from "Park" to "Reverse". Was told it probably needs a new gear...


Without check out the vehicle we'd only be guessing , but sounds like a problem with the shift interlock safety system . There is a lock solenoid inside the shifter assembly that won't allow the shifter to be moved from park unless the drivers foot is pushing on the brake pedal. Don't know if this is console shifter or on the steering coulmn ,but both have similar set up . Has brake pedal switch , solenoid , wiring and the BCM - body control module . The BCM control's the shiftlock solenoid . Don't force the shifter out of park , you will brake it . Your best bet , take it to a qualified repair shop .

Car will not go in gear


if the shifter is on the column remove plastic cover there is a small metal bar that moves it needs some grease or wd 40 on it

The car starts, but the gearshift wont move from park


Usually a problem with the brake switch or the solenoid that locks the shifter in park.
That circuit would need to be tested.

When i start my wind star in park and apply brake it wont shift out of park


Hi, first check your brake lights. If they are not working, the likely problem is the brake light switch above the brake pedal.
The shifter has a solenoid that locks the shifter until you put your foot on the brake. If the brake switch fails or the fuse burns out, the brake will not signal the shift solenoid to unlock the shifter. If the brake lights are working, the problem may be the shift solenoid itself. The solenoid is at the base of the shifter.

My car won't come out park, the shifter is stuck on park. The car will turn on and is running good. The only way to get it out of park is to push the shift locker button every time you want to get it out...


Are the brake lights operating? usually if the brake switch inst working, the shifter doesnt know your foot is on the brake pedal, and locks the shifter.
