SOURCE: where is the oil filter on my yamaha V-star 1100

On the right side of the bike (right side when ou are sitting on it) just above the rear brake lever behind a small circular plate. remove the plate and the oil filter is inside (you will easily see it). Warning---on these bikes you have to drop the front exhaust header and right floor board in order to change the oil filter unless you install a after market oil filter relocation kit. If you plan on changing your own oil it is highly recommended to install this relocation kit.

SOURCE: How do you check the oil level on a 1986 honda V65

The dip stick is on the same side as the fill cap but toward the rear just behind the round part of the clutch cover, and screwed in at a downward angle. If I remember it takes about 4 quarts to do an oil and filter change on it.

On the Mercedes C-240 the oil sencor light came on with the A service oil change .I had the oil changed and now the oil level light comes on. And this is on a 2005 C-240 4-matic .

Could be the person who changed it never ran the motor and then topped it off once the filter was full. Have you checked the oil level after you let the car sit overnight to make sure the oil level is on full? I would say it could be a bad oil level sensor, except that the coincidence of coinciding with an oil change is too obvious.

Any good quality multigrade (ie.10w-40) should be fine. For the volume of oil needed you could change it every couple of seasons. The important thing is checking the level each time you use it. Don't forget to clean the cutter area and under deck to reduce corrosion during off season.

Oil is at the "add oil mark" on my ultra classic do I need to add oil before I get it to operating temp to change the oil?

Not if you are changing the oil, just do the change, then check your oil when the engine is fully warmed up and the bike is level.

Checking motorcycle oil on my Motorcycle

For illustration purposes, go here:

This is the LEFT side cover.
Item #8 is an oil level sight glass, to check the oil level.
Item #9 is where oil is added.
Item #4 is where you drain the oil.

Check oil level when oil is warm, after shutting off motor.
Check with bike upright, not on kickstand.
The sight glass is supposed to have a maximum and minimum level indicator marks.
Oil level should be in between the two marks.
The he engine takes about 3.3 quarts.

Use the Yamaha Multi purpose oil when you change your oil. If you live in a hot climate, use 20w50, if you live in a cooler climate, use 10w40. Hot would be anything that gets above 80 degrees or so.
Are you aware of the fact that to change your oil, you have to remove the front header pipe to get to the oil filter?
Do not use any oil that says anything like "Energy Conserving II" or higher. Bikes use a wet clutch and those automotive oils have friction modifiers that will make your clutch slip. Stick to the Yamalube, good oil at a fair price that is worry free.

Oil capacity for 2000 HD FLH

I'm pretty sure it's three quarts. However, the bike is equipped with an oil dipstick. Change the oil and add three quarts of oil. Check the oil level with the dipstick while it's on the sidestand. There are two marks on the dipstick, the upper mark is "FULL HOT", and the lower mark is "FULL COLD". Keep the oil level between the two lines by checking the oil level when the oil is hot. Do not overfill.

NEED TO KNOW HOW TO CHANGE ALL OILS 2005 Electra glied classes harley

The oil tank is on the bottom of the transmission. The engine oil drain plug is on the left front corner of the oil tank. Drain the oil, change the oil filter, and refill with three quarts of any approved 20W50 weight engine oil. Check the oil level using the dip stick. The dip stick is located on the right side of the transmission. The oil cap is a large cap (2" or 50mm in diameter) with knurled edges on it. The dipstich has two marks on it. The top mark is 'FULL HOT" and the lower mark is "FULL COLD". Keep the oil level between these two marks. Check the oil level with the bike on the side stand.

Good Luck

Engine oil how much does it take

the 4.3L and the 5.7L motors take 4.1 qts. of oil (without filter change).

Obviously the filter gets changed when the oil is changed, so fill the 4 qts., start the car, idle a few moments, shut down, wait a few, check the oil level, and add accordingly.

Oil change

There are forums that will give you step by step instructions on how to do it if you Google it.You may also find a free service manual online.
I have a 1600 in my shop now and you have to drain the engine ,change the oil filter and drain the oil tank, fill the tank with 2 quarts oil,run engine for 15 seconds, add 2 more quarts oil ,run bike for 30 seconds then check oil level in the tank and adjust level if needed.
May also need special wrench to remove filter.
