SOURCE: Yamaha 650 Maxim Won't Turnover

Make sure the battery is fully charged and the battery connections are free of corrosion and tight. A fully charged 12 volt battery should read at least 13.25 volts. Also check the fuses, making sure each one is not 'blown' and is making proper electrical contact in the fuse box.
If the above items are correct but it still won't crank over with the electric starter, locate the starter solenoid and - using a large screwdriver - carefully touch it across the two large cable connections on the top. If the starter spins over, then you've got a bad starter solenoid. If you've got voltage to the top of the solenoid and the starter still doesn't spin, then you've got either a bad starter motor or a bad electrical connection going to it.

Testimonial: "I did the screwdriver trick and it started to turnover (I've probably got a dead/dying battery too) and it looks like its the solenoid. Thanks!"

Replace the out put speed sensor on the transmission. This should get the speedo back. Not the RPM's though. Year make and model helps.

My oil light comes on for very short period of times. Checked oil level and its fine. What else should I do?

Change your oil pressure sender. It is more common for the sender to go out than the oil pump. But you should never drive with your oil light on. If you are out of oil or have no oil pressure and you keep driving, you will destroy your motor. There fore you want your oil warning light to function correctly. The sender is part # 11 on this diagram. http://www.bikebandit.com/houseofmotorcycles/2000-yamaha-yzf-r1/o/m8953#sch115516

You can fiddle with thiis and check oil pressures but best is sump off, thorough clean, teardown the pump thoroughly clean it and pickup and replace it if any wear or the pressure releif spring is weak. You have given no mileage and no information on the oil used nor whether in a really hot area or 'where'?..there are several considerations ranging even into worn bearings...Of course with acceleration motor speed increases oil pressure...that's why light goes out (unlikely but possible the sender unit is faulty...but try replacement of that first if you want...) It doesn't take a lot of pump wear to cavitiate and drop oil pressures.

Hi, i have 1981 YAMAHA XJ550 , sitting over a year but won't start, when i push started switch there nothing , but only oil level gauge on, what happen ?? is there lower oil level??, or oil gauge sensor...

Sounds like your battery may be bad. The oil light will stay on till the switch senses pressure. You may have a bad starter switch, relay, or some other issue. Get out a manual and your multi meter and start testing.

Audi a4 2000 cold temp

your thermostat is stuck open not letting the engine get up to operating temp. You probably are not getting very good heat out of the vents either. the oil light is a serious concern though even if you oil level is good there is a good chance you have oil sludge build up clogging you oil pick up tube. this happens on older 1.8t i am assuming that is what you have. That is a job for a shop they will need to replace oil pick up tube quite a few breather hoses and seals this is not a cheap fix. and it is also very labor intensive. You might also want to do water pump and timing belt as well when they are in there it will be about 2000 or so this would not be a job i would take to an outside shop. audi knows what they are doing would be a good idea to go there.
