Sounds like an overly lean condition accompanied by a high compression situation. Perhaps the bloke that owned the bike before you had the head cut to increase compression. In this case, you could either replace the head or run high octane fuel.

Also - look at the water pump condition - seals and the drive gear. The seals might be leaking if your oil is discolored and the gear that drives the impeller has been known to shed teeth over long periods of time. It is also quite possible that the bearing is shot.

Also check to make sure the head pipe does not have any leaks near the cylinder.

I have a hawk 250cc Chinese dirt bike with 80mph on the speedometer but I only can get it to 50mph what could I do to get it to 80mph

Speedometers always go a lot higher than the maximum speed of the bike. In the case of your Hawk 250 the quoted top speed is 74.5 mph. In my experience of riding trail bikes and competitive enduro, you will only reach it under ideal conditions. That is usually a following wind, downhill, with a light rider, riding one handed with your head on the tank. NOTE - This isn't a very safe way to ride! The main problem with dirt bikes is the riding position which is sitting high up like a flag in the wind which causes extreme wind resistance which will easily know 20 mph off your top speed.

your bike also needs to be correctly set up, and I doubt that Chinese engineering workmanship is that good. at 80 mph things can go bad very quickly.

Overheating yz250f

Hi, Anonymous and the usual suspects are:
1. Low coolant level.
2. Restricted radiator air flow.
3. Faulty thermostat.
4. Coolant pump or fans inoperative.
5. Vent hose crimped.
6. Air in the coolant and needs bleeding.

Ktm 950 enduro runs fine for 30 km then dies as if no fuel.give it five minutes and will run fine. bike has now 20000km

possible issue on timing and or internal overheating.

KTMs vtwin timing is a little hard to decipher so i rather you have your bike brought to a KTM service center for overhauling.

please do not use the bike before it gets repaired. this king of issue may damage your cylinder

I've never been a big fan of automotive oil in a bike. That being said, maybe the Castrol can be used in bikes too I don't know. Anyhow, hopefully someone will be along that can better answer that part of your question. There have been many discussions pertaining to what oil to use. Drop a PM to OilDoc. He can probably answer that question very quickly for you. If this was a car, I'd say that the thermostat was stuck. Maybe start there.
