It sounds like you're tripping the main breaker. The main breaker would be tripping due to an electrical short. Since you didn't mention anything about a fuse blowing, I'm going to assume that the short is occurring in an "unfused" circuit. Check the starter wires. I've read a post on this forum that at least one person had the problem of the wires behind the rear cylinder going to the starter getting hot and shorting out tripping the main breaker.

the idle speed for hot is too high
did you scan the PCM yet?

Does the driving on overdrive mode cause high fuel consumption, because the transmission use the first three ratios mostly?


driving in over drive mode actually is what gives the economy as the engine rpms will be around 300 less than direct drive . Lower rpms = fuel savings
OD should come in around 60 klm/hr and drop out at around 50 klm/hr. When you are accelerating hold the pedal in a set position and watch the rev counter (rpms ) and each gear change you will see the rpms drop and then build back up as the vehicle speed increases At 100klm/hr the revs should be around 3200 rpms or less but if over ( say 3500 rpms) then may be the OD is not coming in. One way to test a box operation is to find a speed shop with a dynomometer and test the gear selections against loads and engine rpms

I have an old 2.5HP briggs with a hilliard extreme duty centrifugal clutch on my vintage rupp racing kart and it doesn't seem to gety up enough rpms to engage the clutch. So question is should I remove...


Did it ever work with that clutch? I'm assuming that the clutch has been changed and now it isn't working. That clutch should engage at 2300 rpms but your governor might not be allowing it to rev up to it's full speed. If you remove or change the governor, that's about the only way you'll get the rpms necessary for a solid clutch engagement. Changing the sprocket without maintaining a high enough engine speed for complete engagement of the clutch first will only create clutch slippage and eventually failure. So, to answer your question, get the engine speed higher and then work on the right sprocket ratio.

Had a simuliar problem, Bike would have a total shutdown a High Temps/Low Speeds/High RPMs. Everything would reset itself after appox 2 minutes. Everything would shutdown Electric and engine.
2 Harley dealers spent 75 hours diagnosing it, dealer could not reproduce it. Last repair was to replace battery cables. Seems to have fixed it. Have ridden 15oo miles since repair. Problem reacurred once last time I rode. Again complete shutdown bike restored after 2 minutes. Did not happen again the rest of the day over 200 miles

You are correct. Appaently you have a short in the winding connection and that is not a do-it-yourslef type of repair. Unfortunately, the cost to fix something like that is high since it is labor intensive and you may want to look into a new motor since the chances of additional or near future failures is likely. 2000 grand caravan won't go above 70 mph. high rpms


First I need to ask is it a 4 speed or a 3 speed transmission. If it's a 4 speed when driving down the road pull it from drive to third gear. You shpuld hear the engine speed up if it does not then that means you have on 4th gear and you will have to take it to a transmission shop. If it's a 3 speed then just count the shift points if all 3 gears are present then drive down the road and see if the van goes into tcc. When you mean the rpms are high how high are they.

2004 jeep grand cherokee idling problem. Revs motor 200 to 500 rpms higher while driving.


I had the exact same problem on my 04 GC. I put some Techron Concentrate Plus Fuel System Cleaner in from Wal-Mart and it seemed to fix the problems right away. Let me know.
